Hi Friends! We have been busting out some projects over here that had been put on the back burner since they weren’t necessarily pressing to get done. But it feels so good to cross some of these of my list. You know that list that my husband thinks never ends, and can’t tangibly see because it exists in my head, and I slowly add to it. Todays project was one that I actually put on the list when we bought our house. But as I said it wasn’t the most important so it got pushed down to the bottom. Well not anymore friends! Today it is officially done, and I can’t wait to show you! I teamed up with Weaber Lumber to complete this project, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome! Say hello to our most recent makeover – our Farmhouse Laundry Room. [Read more…]

Hello Friends! I hope you are doing well! Today I’m sharing all of our “before” photos of our master bathroom with you! Brace yourselves, this is a never before seen room. Ack! And it is a whole lot of blah beige. We are teaming up with our friends over at Wayfair to join in on their One Room Reno Challenge. In case you missed it I shared the design plan for the space HERE. I am so excited to get this project started. Our master bathroom is the LAST room in our house to get my signature touch. Seriously this room has not been touched since we moved in just about 7 years ago! Yikes, but I have a feeling it will be one of our best makeovers yet! [Read more…]
Hello Friends! If you caught my Goals post last week, than you know we are gearing up to tackle our master bathroom. If you’ve been following the blog for awhile, well heck even since the beginning than you may be thinking to yourself you don’t recall seeing our master bathroom, and you’re right! I’ve never shared it with you, because of it’s blah boring state, and quite honestly it has been on the very bottom of our to-do list. I’ll explain more about it’s current state when I share the before pictures with all of you, but in the meantime I wanted to share the design plan for the space.
They say the devil is in the details, and I have always been one to fully believe that the difference is in the details. Details can make or break your design. In any event, whether you are decorating a room, hosting an event, or in this case renovating a bathroom. The details are what makes the difference of things going from nice to WOW. And trust me it doesn’t have to be a budget breaker either. It’s all about knowing where to splurge, what to look for, and knowing where to be thrifty. [Read more…]
I get a lot of questions about where items are from in our home. I’m in the process of updating my sources, and creating a page to help navigate through different rooms in our house, to make things easier to find. Until then I wanted to share some updated sources for pieces you’ve seen in our living room this year. My staples have stayed the same, but there have been subtle changes along the way, and I wanted to make everything easy to find in one post. [Read more…]
Hi friends! I hope you have been enjoying summer. It feels like such a fleeting season for us here in New England, so I wanted to share a flew glimpse’s of our living room with you, as a way to soak up this last month of summer that we have, before fall comes and the kids head back to school! First though, thank you SO much for all your kind words regarding our Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover. Like most of you, our laundry room isn’t really a room, but more a wall, lol. This little transformation has made this area in our home much more productive, and I think we can all agree, when it comes to doing chores, when they are more enjoying to do, they get done! In case you missed it, you can see the entire makeover HERE. I still have more to share about the rest of this room, but we have been soaking up summer with trips to the beach, time spent with friends, and just being there for my kids. As much as I love to share things here on the blog, I also recognize that time spent with my kids during these summer days won’t always be there. So this mama is soaking it in while she can 🙂 Now for a look into our summer living room. [Read more…]
It’s always fun to look back over the past year. As the new year approaches, and we wind down from the holidays. The last Christmas cookie is digested, and my pants seem to have gotten 2 sizes smaller in ONE week, I look forward to the New Year with great anticipation. With the kids home on from school on Christmas break, and family visiting, we have spent our days soaking in our time together, and it truly has been so much fun. However, I told my husband the other day, that this structure loving person is craving some routine. I never realized how much I crave routine, until it’s gone! With 2018 right around the corner, I always love to look back over the past year. There is something about reviewing the last year, that helps propel us into what’s next. So this is my year in review of 2017. [Read more…]
It’s funny, looking back, how clearly I can remember always wanting to be a mom. I can remember being asked as a young girl, and early teenager what I wanted to do when I grew up, and my answer was simple, “be a mom”. It wasn’t until I was in high school that that answer was no longer the only answer people would accept. I would get responses like “yes you can be a mom, but what else do you want to do?” or “Of course you will be a mom, but what do you want to do for a career”. Even though their question changed, my answer still stayed the same. To the point that when it came time to start thinking about college, I boldly told my parents I didn’t need to go to college because I was going to get married and be a mom. This was without a potential husband on the scene as well. I was confident in it. I was drawn to it, and something inside me felt peace about it, contentment, almost like it settled me. Yes I had always secretly wanted to become an interior designer, but at the time going to school for that was out of reach, and I doubted myself very much. Especially seeing how I didn’t have my own home or money to decorate with. [Read more…]
I think it’s inevitable that with every start to a new year comes time for reflection on last year, and some time to look forward in hopes of what the new year might hold. Since I’ve taken a look back on 2017, and all that we accomplished, and I’ve shared with you my most popular posts of 2017, it’s time to dream about what 2018 will bring. I’ve been looking around our house, and really contemplating what I hope to tackle this year. So here are some of my goals for 2018, and what I hope to accomplish in our home. [Read more…]
Happy New Year friends!!! I hope you are resting in reflecting with full hearts after all of the holiday celebrations, and everything that came with 2017. This past week has been FULL of spending time with family, even last night, we rang in the New Years here at home with our kids, and my sister, her husband and darling 3 yr. old niece. I have to say it truly is a highlight to see the joy on my kids faces as we celebrate the holidays, the many blessings God has poured out in our lives, and now the anticipation of what the New Year will bring. We are winding things down in our last 2 weeks of summer. Fall soccer for my son has already begun, and you can smell autumn in the air as it approaches. I was window shopping online the other day, actually looking for some fall decor inspiration, and during my searching I stumbled upon a beautiful wooden trunk and it reminded me of the wooden trunk we have in our living room as a coffee table. And I thought to myself if I didn’t have my current trunk, I would get this one. I know many of you have asked where ours is from, and I hate not having a valid source. So today I’m sharing a variety of farmhouse style wooden trunk coffee table ideas. [Read more…]
First of all, I just have to say how amazing you guys are! Your comments on my last post, I have a Dream, have warmed my heart in ways you will never know! I feel like I sat down and had the best coffee visit with my closest friends. You know the kind where you leave feeling refreshed and full from having good conversation. The best conversations, that affirm, and encourage one another! I’m so honored to have you hear with me, and I cannot even begin to express the gratitude I have in my hearts for you! So today I’m finally getting around to sharing the other half of the room our washer and dryer are in. I’ll be honest when we first looked at this house, this room perplexed me. It’s a small room to being with, and has an angled wall that used to drive me bonkers when we first moved in. It’s funny how something things start to fade away and blend in with the rest of the space. This room has functioned as a few things since we lived here. A playroom, a bedroom, a throw all room, a pop-up guest room, and now my office. I’ll admit it’s been my office for just about 2 years, but it’s hardly ever clean. When you are creating things, it’s so hard to keep things clean, but that’s why I love this room. It’s a space for any of the projects I’m working on to go, and I can just shut the door. However now, it’s turned into quite the creative retreat, so I may be keeping that door open a bit more! With some help from my friends at Minted, I was able to turn this home office space into a place I where I love to create. It inspires me, and I think that’s what helps the creative juices flow the most, and I can’t wait to share it with you! [Read more…]
So I’ve caught a bug. Not a stomach bug or any type of sick bug, so don’t worry. It’s funny how refreshing one space can be contagious, and now I have caught the bug of freshening up more of our spaces. Today I’m sharing some house goals I have for 2016. We have a running joke around here, between my husband and I, that I always have a project! He may be right, but just as we approach our 5 year mark of being in this home, I was starting to think there really wasn’t anymore left to do, or was there. I did a re-cap last year when we hit the 4 year mark and it’s full of all sorts of fun before and after photos like these: [Read more…]
So it’s the day before Thanksgiving. THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING!! I feel like I say this every year as the holidays arrive, but seriously time flies! I guess it’s a good thing we are having fun!! I’m so glad you enjoyed our Dining Room mini-makeover. I still have a few things brewing that I want to add, including finally getting an area rug for that space! We will see what 2016 brings. I was chatting with the hubby this morning, and I told him that infamous hair across my butt that shows up every now and then itching for a project … IT’S BACK! LOL. I have a laundry list of things to do today, never mind the 6 loads of laundry I did yesterday, that still need to be put away, and you know what I want to do more than anything right now?! [Read more…]
Ohhh Friends, did we have a fun, busy, exhausting, exciting, blessed weekend!! If you caught my post last week, than you knew we were headed out to do the Lowe’s Fall Makeover. We left Thursday, the hubby and I, and came back late late last night. Our flight there was delayed, setting us back quite a bit, and our flight home was delayed. So I think it’s safe to say we will be laying low the next couple of days and catch up on some much needed sleep 🙂 It was so much fun, we had a fantastic time from start to finish, and I can’t wait to share the reveal with all of you!! Today we have another installment of Houses on Instagram. For our second house in this new series we have the lovely Melinda from House 214. When I first stumbled across her feed, I adored her farmhouse kitchen, and basically drooled over every detail, and I think you will love it too!! [Read more…]
So with September right around the corner, I decided to designate it as project month. For most people around here when the season starts to change, we try to get all the little things we want done before the snow flies. So with fall knocking on our front door, I decided to be proactive and start now, instead of procrastinate as my husband would describe it. I don’t know if you are like me in this department but I love magazines! It’s like a little vacation for me without having to go anywhere. My husband always cringes when we get to part of our shopping trip that brings us to the checkout line. He knows that once that little piece of heaven called the magazine rack comes into view I’m gone. Like a dog chasing squirrels I forget how focused I am, or how strict to my schedule I’m sticking, and I’m gone for at least a few minutes scanning for the newest one. I totally have a “SQUIRREL” moment (for any of you who have seen ‘UP’) and am lost in admiration. Usually the cover photo grabs my attention first, and then I pick the one that has the best article titles. Subconsciously I always feel I have some chance of hope with titles like “Easy Updates,” “50 of the most beautiful room,” “Organization for every closet,” “Mini-makeovers for every room,” you get the idea. So I decided to give some motivation of my own for some easy fixes.
FIRST : Put some cork on it! I grabbed this idea from a few different resources I’ve seen done over the past few years. I already had the cork, but never got a chance to use it at our last place, so you can bet I jumped right on the opportunity to use it here. First head down to your local “ -mart” store, and pick up the square cork tiles, some adhesive squares (just in case there isn’t enough in the pack of cork) and some thumbtacks.
