I know I already shared my highlights from 2015, but I thought it would be fun if I round up a few of my friends and interviewed them to see what their favorite projects from 2015 were, and what is one project they are looking forward to accomplishing in 2016. Sounds fun right?! Let's get started! ... Read More about Best of 2015 & Goals for 2016
My White Paint Fail
If you've been following along lately, than you know this month I've been all about simplifying our home, and refreshing our living room. Well right around Christmas I decided I was brave enough to give this whole "white paint" thing a whirl. I did my research, read plenty of reviews and posts done by other designers and bloggers. Whenever I get ready to repaint a room, the first thing I do is head straight to pinterest and search the paint color I'm thinking of going with. ... Read More about My White Paint Fail
Your Questions Answered about our White Sofa
I got such a great response from everyone about our new sofa in the living room. So many of you shared your questions and concerns with me, I was so glad that my review on our new sofa was helpful. It can certainly be a daunting task buying a new couch, never mind trying to buy one online that you haven't even sat in. And when everywhere you turn people are reviewing their IKEA slipcovered couches, it may makes you wonder why anyone would buy something else. I am certainly not knocking the IKEA couch, I was a proud owner of one for 10 years. It's a great buy when you want to spruce up a space and don't want to spend a lot, or if you were like us and just starting out, you can fill a whole ... How to Simplify your Home
It's funny how our knick knacks can creep in on us. One day we are browsing through HomeGoods picking up one or two tiny little trinkets the make our hearts beat a little fast, and before we know it we have shelves and bookcases, and mantles covered with far too many things. Now I do have some storage places that I rotate things in and out of, to change up a vignette on the fly without having to run to the store. But what happens when it all just starts feeling like too much? I wouldn't say my style has completely changed since we moved into our house almost 5 years ago, but it has evolved. I've walked closer to the style I want, and further from the style that I had to just simply fill a ... Read More about How to Simplify your Home
New Sofa in the Living Room
I totally meant for this post to be yesterday, as I don't usually post on the weekends, but you know that thing called "life", well it likes to get in the way sometimes. So here is some fun weekend eye candy for you, taking a look at our new sofa in our living room! I shared earlier in the week why we went with a new sofa, and as much as we loved our IKEA white slip covered couch, it had seen better days. I also shared that our IKEA couch was 10 years old, and they have since re-vamped how they make the inner cushions, which I think gives them more life. All that being said, what it really came down to was the preferences of our family, that kept us from going back to get another sofa from ... Read More about New Sofa in the Living Room
A Simpler Look for the New Year
I mentioned at the end of yesterdays post that I was craving a more simpler look around our home. I wouldn't say I'm a pack rack when it comes to decor, but I'm certainly no minimalist either. I remember reading a post the Nester did a few years back (ok WOW I just looked, that post was written 6 years ago - SIX!) about quieting the home. She called herself the Coco Chanel of Home Accents, and it still makes me chuckle. But I remember reading her post and feeling a slight panic at the thought of putting away all my home decor accessories for a cleaner, quieter look. However this past fall I found myself craving to do the same thing. Yet with Christmas right around the corner, it was not the ... Read More about A Simpler Look for the New Year
Living Room Refresh Ideas
SOooooo, I have been dying to show all of you a few new updates that have transpired in our living room over the holidays! I feel like I've had this major secret I've been holding onto, and I can't wait to share it with all of you! If you've been a long time follower here than you may remember my post about longing for a new sofa! It was a few years ago, and while we were searching and searching nothing seemed to fit just right, and life happens, and sometimes getting a new sofa seems a bit silly in the midst of life's greater needs. To recap, we have had the Ikea Ektorp sofa for the past 10 years. I loved this sofa. I say "I" because while my husband never despised it, he wasn't really ever ... Highlights from 2015
2015 sure brought some fun and exciting things in my life regarding this blog and the business that goes with it. It's been almost 4 years, and even though I still struggle with saying the actual word "blog" (still sounds weird to me) I finally tell people that I have a blog, LOL! I love looking back each year, and reflecting on all that has happened. It always sparks feelings of accomplishment, and even more so gratitude. Because without you here, there really wouldn't be much of a blog, and so for that I am SUPER grateful! Grateful for this online community, and friends that I've made. Grateful for a place I can unload all my design thoughts and ideas into a circle of well receiving ... Read More about Highlights from 2015
A New Year | Finding the Quiet
I don't know about you, but during the last week of the year, I can't help but think and plan on things I want to do and accomplish in the new year. Reflecting on the past year, surfaces thoughts on all the accomplishments and things the year brought. I think sometimes I can fall into the trap of feeling discouraged or disappointed on the things I wanted to accomplish but didn't. That's when I need to take the reigns of my thoughts and focus on all the good the year brought. I've talked about comparison before, and for me that's one way the door can crack open on falling into the trap of comparison. So I do my best to recognize it right away, for what it is, and surround myself with ... Read More about A New Year | Finding the Quiet

Keeping up with Christmas Traditions & a Giveaway!
Once all the decorating is done, and the boxes are back in the basement, it's time to start up with the Christmas traditions. Other than decorating, it's one of the things I look forward to most during the holiday season. From baking, to Christmas movie watching, driving around and looking at Christmas lights in our pj's. We have so much we enjoy doing each year to soak in everything about this holiday season. One tradition that I grew up with was making home made gingerbread houses. My grandmother was a cake decorator for many years, so going to her house was always a "sweet" treat, especially around the holidays. Gingerbread houses for us was an all day event, that started with many days ... Read More about Keeping up with Christmas Traditions & a Giveaway!
