I think we can all raise our hand in agreement that at one time or another we have been in Target and left with more than we anticipated buying! I for one have to avoid that place some times for that reason alone. So many times though #targetdoesitagain and hits the nail on the head for their decor. We all know the feeling in the store, but have you shopped Target online lately? I was browsing their site the other day for a client, and while I have felt over the last few years Target has upped their game in the home decor department, I was surprised at everything they offer online now. So instead of keeping all these goodies to myself, I wanted to share with you 10 trendiest lights from Target! [Read more…]
So I’m taking a break from the pink today, and if this is your first time here, or you haven’t been in awhile, I apologize! I shared our daughters room makeover, HERE, and as much as I love it, I feel like all I have seen lately is pink, ha ha! So I thought I would share a recent mood board I did for a client, because it’s not one that I typically do. Don’t get me wrong I love what I do, and helping clients decorate their homes into spaces they love is especially important for me. Every once and awhile though I will get a client whose style is not your typical farmhouse feel with white slipcovers, but stretches my design muscles, in a good way! Trust me I love decorating in my style house, it’s my favorite thing to do, but every now and then it’s fun to step outside the norm. [Read more…]
So I’ve dropped a few hints that we were changing things up in the dining room, and I am so excited to share it with you today! Let me rewind just a little. For over a year now, I have wanted to make this change. I was tempted with it years ago, but we ended up putting up a chair rail in our dining room instead with picture frame moldings to follow. Well we never got to the picture frame moldings, so I felt like I was never really 100% invested in the chair rail. It was nice and it gave the space some character, but it just never felt complete for me. Then this one tiny little wall started to stick out to me. And then it started to drive me nuts, which brings me to about last year, when I finally just made it up in my mind that we were going to do this, a switch needed to take place. What little tiny wall was it, you ask, that prompted this whole mini-makeover? [Read more…]
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a few weeks since we completed the Lowe’s Fall Makeover. There was so much excitement and anticipation heading into this project. I shared with you HERE the mood board design plan we had for the space, and we all know that while these serve as great inspiration for completing a space, they don’t come out 100% like the mood board. I would say we came pretty close though. From Day 1 of working with the home owners it was so much fun to talk about their style and what they would like to see in the space. The moment they mentioned a farmhouse table, I knew we were going to hit it off right away! I loved transforming their space, with the help of Lowe’s, and taking their dreams and making it a reality. Or knocking it out of the park as they would say! [Read more…]
Thank you so much for all of your kind words and congratulations on Sundays announcement! It truly is a dream come true, and I just feel so honored and full of gratitude to even have this opportunity! I’m still making my rounds through all the beautiful fall vignettes and free printables from Mondays post, but oh man it has got me in the mood for fall now! Even though we still have scorching temps in the high 90’s this week, and humidity like you wouldn’t believe, our leaves have already started to change colors, and it gets me SO excited for what’s too come. Fall in New England has to be one of my all time favorite things about living here, and growing up here, it truly is magical, and in a few weeks we will be at our peek season! I wanted to pop in today and share a few items in the new product line that I love and why I picked them! As you all know I love using vintage items and repurposing old things into modern day decor, and that is just what I had in mind with these. [Read more…]
I started thinking after my last post, and after reading some of your comments it confirmed my thoughts, that it can be tricky to pick a name either for your blog or your business. Sometimes I think it’s the hardest part, everything else seems easy or falls into place when it comes to what you do, but picking a name to describe who you are and what you are all about can be the biggest obstacle we face when establishing our business. I shared with you how my blog name came to be, but I also have a business. Many of you already know this, but the blog is what spurred on my business. The blog gave me the courage to finally start something, and go for it. After blogging for about 9 months, we launched Doucette Design Co. Where I offer interior design services to local and online clients. [Read more…]
The time has come to finally decorate a little girls room. I say finally because when our daughter was born (our 2nd), I never got to decorate a nursery for a little girl. I did for our son (our first child), but when baby girl came, we had other people temporarily living with us, so for the first few years our kids shared a room. And honestly they loved it. I showed you their shared space here. [Read more…]
I thought I would share a little fun I’m having with Joss & Main products from my Home Tour sale. First off, I still feel like I’m on cloud nine just being able to partner with Joss & Main, and have them pick items based off of how I decorated our home! If you haven’t had a chance to view the sale yet, you can see it here. I’d love to know which items you like, or would love to decorate your home with?! Since you can’t “try-on” items in your home first before purchasing, I thought it would be fun to see them in a design plan! Today I’m going to share with you three mood boards I created with items from my Joss & Main home tour sale. Think of it like a wardrobe swap out with furniture in your home you want to get rid of, or contemplating swapping out for something different. [Read more…]
I’ve mentioned briefly here and there that we were working on updating a few things around here, and we are getting close to revealing those changes. For those of you that don’t know my dream of being an interior decorator became a reality 3 years ago, when I took the leap and started my own business, Doucette Design.
It’s a new year! The christmas decor is put away, and initially our rooms feel a bit bare. Maybe the new year bring new possibilities to freshen up that space you’ve always been wanting too?! Maybe on the top of that to-do list for the new year is finally attacking that space that’s been driving you nuts?! I’ve shared these tips before over at Beneath My Heart, but thought they would be helpful as we all look to tackle some indoor projects during these winter months. So today I’m sharing with you my top 5 Tips to make and space come to life. [Read more…]
