Like any room in our house, when spring comes along I like to switch out winter blankets for summer blankets. There’s nothing like freshening up a space during spring time months with lighter blankets and pillows. Since it’s national sleep week I wanted to show you how I lightened things up in our master bedroom. I teamed up with Crane & Canopy, along with a few other bloggers to share our bedrooms with you all week long. [Read more…]

Today I’m sharing more of a break down of sources from our Spring Home Tour last week. I try sharing where most things are from, but whenever I share a post that has lots of pictures in it, I always tend to want to talk less, and leave room to be inspired by the pretty photos. However I do not like leaving things up to question and unanswered. Many of you have asked about new pieces you saw in the Cozy Spring Home Tour, so I will do my best today to share with you. But if I miss something please don’t hesitate to ask! [Read more…]
We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to our bathroom reno. It felt like every step of the way we hit an obstacle. I guess that is to be expected in any renovation, especially when your house is almost 200 years old. This has probably been the most extensive project we have tackled, being that just about everything we ripped out needed to be re-done behind the walls. The plumbing being the worst of it. Well it may be tied with the uneven walls, but unless we wanted to completely gut the space there was no getting around that one, just making the best of it. [Read more…]
It feels a little silly to use the word “spring” right now since we have been hit with about 3 ft of snow in the past 4 days, but just about this time every year I start getting the itch for spring. When the sun starts to stay out just a bit longer, and the temps start to rise above 30 degrees. Here in New England we are known for our long winters, so I like to beat the winter blues by adding fresh flowers, and that’s just what I did to add some spring touches in the mom cave. [Read more…]
A new space for the new year! I am so excited to share how we transformed this space into a cozy retreat! Ever since I was a little girl I have loved being in my bedroom. It was my space to think, and play, create, and dream big. I always felt refreshed after having some alone time in my room when I was a kid, and still feel that way! In our master we have a tiny room attached that you walk through to get to the master bathroom. It’s where you’ve seen my home office set up before, and I always envisioned creating a cozy retreat in that space. A mom cave if you will, and I’m so excited to share it with you today! [Read more…]
Merry Christmas Friends! I can’t believe we are finally here. Well ok, I can, but even though we countdown to Christmas every year, when it finally arrived I still can’t believe it! I hope that wherever you are celebrating Christmas this year, brings you cheer. I’m so excited to be joining in on my sweet friend Rachel from Maison de Pax Christmas Lights Night Tour! [Read more…]
It’s no secret I love to layer things. Every corner in our house has the possibility to create a layered look. I think it makes the space feel cozier, more inviting. It really welcomes you in. I love the look of layered rugs, even though some (mostly men) feel it to be unnecessary, I beg to differ. The other fun aspect to layering rugs, is that because the top one is essentially smaller, equalling less expensive, you have the option to switch it up more frequently. [Read more…]

Yep that’s right! That is exactly how I would describe our new curtains in our living room. Not too hot, too cold, but just right! In other words, not too dark, not too light, but just right! You see I love all white, truly I do, but sometimes it feels just a little to blan for me after awhile. And while throw pillows can certainly add their pop of color, I really just wanted something that would cause a bit more of a change. [Read more…]
I am so excited to be teaming up with 4 other amazing bloggers this week and Kirklands to give you the first looks of Christmas in our home. Whether it’s your first time visiting our blog, a recent acquaintance, or a long time friends, Welcome and Happy Holidays! My number one goal is to make our home feel warm and inviting to all who stop by, whether it’s in real life, or for a virtual visit on the blog. I joke that if I could put myself in a decorating style category it would be “relaxed”, because that is truly how I want our home to feel. I love layering in details and texture that all stem from my love for all things farmhouse, especially for the holiday season! [Read more…]
Do I have an exciting surprise for you! If you follow me on Instagram than I hinted to it last week when I shared a picture of our bedroom, but I have changed things up! Today I am joining my friends kicking off the Christmas part of our Farmhouse Holiday Series, by sharing our bedroom decorated for Christmas with Birch Lane. But I also gave our room a little mini-makeover in the process! [Read more…]
Well I did it, I put up our Christmas tree today! Don’t worry it’s not decorated yet, but its up and it’s pretty white lights are on. It’s like instant magic the moment the lights get plugged in. Every time it instantly evokes a sense of wonder and child like awe for the season. So before we get into full swing Christmas here on the blog, I decided to do a little round up of this year’s fall decor to make it easy to find. And what better way to celebrate fall before we all jump into Christmas than with some more pretty pictures 😉 [Read more…]
I had a completely different post planned for today, but when Facebook pops up in your feed with a memory from 5 years ago, I knew I wanted to share that instead. Not because I want to boast on how far I’ve come, but it’s important to look back on where we have come from. To take a moment and soak in the hard work and time we’ve invested to get to where we are today. You’ve heard the expression “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and I think the same is definitely true in blogging. I’ve shared my thoughts about comparison HERE, and nothing can wreck you more in the blogging industry than comparing yourself to someone else’s accomplishments. I think it’s so important that we take a moment, and stop to look back and see just how far we’ve come. Not only does it help give us a sense of accomplishment, but it propels us into moving forward with fresh motivation.
If you are like me, and you don’t necessarily gravitate towards big seasonal changes in your decor, than this post is for you. To decorate for fall, I may not be running for the first orange pumpkin I see, or orange plaid throw blanket, there are steps I take to refresh our living room for fall. Today I’m going to share with you some of my thought process that goes behind how I refresh our spaces as the seasons change. [Read more…]
