It’s no secret that I love farmhouse decor. Well farmhouse anything really. It’s my favorite style because of it’s relaxed vibe and comfortable appeal. It’s no fuss, casual feel draws you in and makes you want to sit and stay awhile. I shared a little bit at Haven about my thoughts and design plan that went into how we created our dining room, which I can’t wait to share more of Haven with you all soon, but today I wanted to share a fun way you can shop our look! I’ve teamed up with Painted Fox to join their summer sale series, currently going on, and picked some of my favorite farmhouse decor items that I love to decorate with. I thought it would be fun to show you how I have some of these items incorporated into my own home. [Read more…]
Hello Friends! I hope you all had a lovely summer weekend. We spent some time by the pool and soaking up the sun, and resting because this week gets a little crazy for us! On thursday I leave for Haven, which I’m very excited about! And maybe a little anxious, I’ve never been, and I have the honor of speaking! Thankfully I get to speak on a topic that is near and dear to my heart, Creating a Meaningful & Stylish home, and I’m very excited to share with the ladies that come! I will be sure to fill you all in, for those of you who aren’t going, and share some on the sessions when I get back, for now I’m just trying to wrap my head around meeting a sea of people for the first time, and getting the kids settled before I leave. They are thrilled to be able to spend the time with their grandparents while we are away, but the days leading up to it can always be a bit tedious getting all their things in order. I swear sometimes packing for them is worse than packing for me! So wish me luck, and if you are going to Haven make sure you stop by and say Hi!
Hi Friends and Happy Friday!!! The weekend is here, and I have some exciting news I can’t wait to share with all of you! First, I wanted to show you some antique breadboards I got for our plate rack wall in the kitchen! I shared a quick peak of them on Instagram a few weeks ago, but wanted to give them more of a debut! Since we built our plate rack wall with these specifically in mind. Now 2 years later they are finally in place, and I couldn’t be more smitten with them! [Read more…]
Hello Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! We had a great time with family, enjoying the long weekend being lazy, and eating far too much food! I just wanted to pop in today and show you a new antique tool caddy I picked up back in the beginning of the season. We have a sweet little barn shop down the road from us, that opens just about every other weekend in the summer. The cutest old couple that runs it, and they fill it to the brim from their lifetime hobby of collecting! They are my go to place when I have a certain antique piece in mind. My crates that hold our shoes in the kitchen, I found there. It’s a sweet little spot and it’s just around the corner. I spotted this tool caddy there last year, and sadly I didn’t grab it. So this past spring when they first opened up, I made sure to stop by and thankfully it was still there! [Read more…]
Holy smokes long title, but there really is just no shorter way of saying it! Yes I believe that not having your dream house makes you a better decorator, and no I’m not crazy! I think we all start off with a dream house in mind, at some point in our lives. Heck I still get visions of a dream house, but I bet for most of us we aren’t living in those dream houses we imagined we’d have. And if you are, I am SO happy for you, and I bet there is still a little something you can get out of this post too! So why is it that not living in our dream homes makes us a better decorator. Well for one, if we lived in those dream homes, with everything perfectly laid out like we have envisioned, we wouldn’t have to overcome limitations we may face in our current living situation. Sometimes we miss the creative ingenuity that comes from not having our dream space, and everything not perfectly planned out. Learning to make the best of those obstacles we see as limitations. “You gotta know when to hold, know when to “throw” them, know when to…” Well you get the idea. At the risk of being completely and utterly cheesy, I just couldn’t resist. I mentioned previously that I would talk a bit about purging. I know some of you might be cringing right now, because just the very thought of purging or tackling that process may seem a bit overwhelming. Well I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be. So take a deep breath, a nice sigh of relief, and prepare yourself to be motivated to get some stuff done! I talked here about getting the most use out of your space, with creatively thinking, and coming over design obstacles that you just can’t get away from. Let’s face it we don’t all have a nice little nest egg of 20k or so saved up for a rainy day to remodel our house to make it more functional. I wish! Sometimes though before we can make the most of a space, we need to clear it out a bit. It’s amazing how much stuff can just accumulate over the years without us even realizing it, and then the next thing we know, we are surrounded by clutter we don’t even know how it got there. Sometimes it’s hard to see what it is we don’t like about a space, because we can’t see the space. Or maybe you have had the same furniture for so long you’re stuck in a rut because it’s been that way for years, you just can’t envision anything different. But one thing is for sure, you are no longer happy with the current set up, or arrangement, and something has got to be done. [Read more…]
I wanted to share with you today more about these amazing new pillows I got from Caitlin Wilson Textiles. I was so tickled when they asked if I would be interested in checking out some of their product, and then being able to bless one lucky reader with one too, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I love checking out new home decor stuff, but I love it even more when I can spread the joy! These beautiful pillows from Caitlin Wilson first made their debut in my Summer Tour of Homes with Gina, and let me just tell you, I am OBSESSED! [Read more…]
It’s from their new Farmhouse Collection line. Seriously I could buy every.single.piece from this line and not even blink an eye! I just absolutely LOVE their look, their style, and even more so their mission! Jessica and her husband started this endeavor to bring their sweet daughter home from Africa, and now support others of the same worthy cause through the sales of their site! [Read more…]
Let me introduce you to one of my favorite shops. You may have caught my news yesterday, and one of the items in this amazing giveaway, going on right now on Instagram, is my favorite coffee mug. I am such a lover of cute shops. One of my favorite things to do when we go to the coast is walk around in all the cute little shops. I love looking at their displays, and how they decorated. The unique ways they choose to showcase their product tells a lot about the store and the owner. I have always been a huge admirer of hand lettering and calligraphy. And even though I have yet to master this skill, I am captivated by the letters and how they gracefully flow. Sarah at Chalk Full of Love does such beautiful job and has such a cute shop on Etsy. However she shares her passion so tangibly on Instagram I feel like I just walked through her store when I scroll through her feed. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a mug collector but I certainly have a soft spot for cute coffee mugs. And I am H.U.G.E. lover of coffee, and Jesus. [Read more…]
I know things have been a little quiet this past week over here on the blog, don’t worry I have been a busy little bee. I am so excited to be joining Gina over at Shabby Creek Cottage this year for her Summer Tour of Homes series! You guys are in for such a treat! She has so many great homes lined up, bringing you loads of summer decor inspiration! I love changing up the decor in our house as the seasons change outside. I think next to christmas, summer is my favorite time to decorate because adding pops of white feels so crisp and refreshing. Just like the warm wind that is always welcome after those harsh winter winds. This year I decided to add some fun bold pops of color to our mostly neutral decor. [Read more…]

I know I’ve already shared with you some of my favorite fall inspiration photos. But today I wanted to share with you some of my go to decor items I bring out for fall, or look for when I’m shopping for a client. Texture is one of the biggest ways to create a cozy space, and fall is all about cozy. By doing a quick swap on a few things throughout my house, I’ve changed over for the new season in no time.
First thing I go to swap out are my hand soaps and candles. I know sounds simple enough, and its really easy, but once I start smelling those fall scents, it gets me in the mood to decorate for fall even if the temps outside aren’t quite feeling like fall yet!

Other than bringing in your typical fall decor and pumpkins galore, sometimes just bringing in simple nature gives your home the feeling of fall. Along with nature, I love hanging up wreaths of natural material. This cute curled wood wreath is a perfect option for fall, that could carry you through to christmas too!

Sorry I’ve been a little mia lately. September has been a busy month for us, but I’m happy to say that things are finally calming down. You may have seen on Instagram some peaks of a wedding I decorated for this past sat. I had a lot of fun writing up wedding themed chalkboards, and decorating the venue. I hope to share some of those details on here soon. But for today I’m sharing with you a friends gorgeous colorful home. I persuaded her back in August to let me come and take some quick photos, and today I’m sharing those with you.
I’ve shared this sweet little list here on the blog before. I love this list because I feel like it’s the best way to catch up with all of you, with what is on my mind and in my heart! We have been enjoying our summer, being outside and soaking in the summer sun. We are getting ready for our last vacation of the summer next week, with lots of day trips and fun activities planned, as well as our FIRST day ever to school. I’ll talk a little bit more about it further down, but our first born is starting kindergarten next week. And we are very excited. It’s full day, in our towns tiny elementary school, and I can’t wait to see what this new adventure brings for him. So here is what I’ve been up to:
Loving: This sweet moment between my hubby and our little girl. He took her out on her FIRST date, and she adored the entire night. He picked her flowers from our yard, took her to a fancy restaurant, and they ended the night dancing in the parking lot. She was on cloud 9, and completely in love with her daddy.
Reading : I’m just about done with it, and only because I’m not the most consistent reader is why I haven’t finished it already. But I am thoroughly enjoying The Nester’s book, and all the insight she shares. It’s so true, that if you enjoy her blog, you will L.O.V.E. her book!
Waiting : To go Apple Picking. I realize this isn’t available to everyone across the country, but here it’s a big event. And one I look forward to bringing the kids to year after year. I don’t know what they enjoy more, the adventure of picking apples, the freedom to eat any apples while picking, or enjoying the celebratory pie that’s made once we get home.
Excited About: First Day of Kindergarten!! As I said in the beginning our little boy is gearing up to start Kindergarten at the end of next week. We live in a rural town, and our public school offers full day kindergarten, which he is quite excited about!!
Using: Instagram! A lot!! I love catching up with people on IG, and if you haven’t connected with me yet on there, join me! It’s the main way I stay in touch right now 🙂 Here’s my July IG favorites.
Working On: Recent yard sale finds. Busy painting these bad boys, and trying out Country Chic Paint for the first time. Have to say, I’m loving it!
Wearing: So you all are aware of my love for white. I don’t know why I waited so long to try an all white manicure. It is my new favorite summer color 🙂 I shared it on IG, just in case you missed it, I included it here.
Planning : A Home Decor Line, a new website, an online boutique, launching all 3, switching to wordpress, and building my inventory. More on all of that to come soon!
Singing: You Make Me Brave by: Bethel. This album has been on repeat since the beg of June, and I’m still loving every minute of it!
Dreaming Of : So much more!! We have so many exciting things on the horizon, along with my husbands busy season at work, and I know some of you aren’t even there yet, but as a decorator I’m always planning the next season, and next up for me is holidays, my favorite time of the year 🙂
With summer winding down, one more vacation, and back to school, I will back to a more regular schedule on here soon!! I have lots of things planned for this little ol’ blog, until then, you can stay in touch with me on Instagram (roomsforrent).
