I know that sometimes the thought of decorating for fall can seem like a great idea, but not so easily done. Wether it’s lack of motivation, decor, or funds, sometimes decorating for fall looks great when it’s done by other people in their homes, but not so much a reality for you in your home. Decorating for fall doesn’t have to mean a complete house overhaul. Quite differently from my fall home tour, I’m going to show you some vignettes and glimpse’s around our house, that emulate fall without breaking the bank! AND I’m teaming up with some of my dearest friends, who are also sharing some of their fall decor, for even more inspiration, so make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom 🙂Â
I’ve already shared with you HERE on what fall means to me, and how that can translate through your home decor, but unlike my first fall home tour, today is a bit simpler. More texture, and prints that emulate fall and create an atmosphere that makes you want to light a candle and curl up on the couch in cooler fall temps.Â
Using neutral colors, I played a lot with pattern and texture. Cable knit throw pillows, plaid, and stripes. It all stays soothing to the eye, and feels cozy, when you stick with the same color palette. To cozy things up for fall, all you need to do is drape a throw blanket across the back of your sofa horizontally. I call it “old school”, it’s how people used to put throw blankets on the back of their sofas before we all became smarty pants and high end designers with our sofa’s 😛
Below the coffee table I kept things neutral by filling my dough bowl naked books. This allows the patterns and texture in the rest of the room to take center stage.Â
Taking center stage is a simple coffee table arrangement of hydrangeas, clipped from our yard, that have begun to turn color to their pretty fall hue.
I recently found this huge copper bowl at a barn sale and scooped it up right away because I knew it would be perfect to decorate with in any season. When you clip things from the yard, it’s easy to carry it throughout the house for an effortless look that carries consistency from room to room.
I missed out on clipping these flowers in the summer because I was on crutches, so I had fun clipping them this fall and spreading them throughout the house. I don’t typically decorate with this color in florals, but it’s always fun to try something new!
Keeping things subtle and less fussy on the kitchen shelves, I added more clippings, and a few subtle fall touches. I love this sign from Little Bits of Everything, and it’s sweet Autumn saying. Neutral, and it adds just the right touch for fall!
I shared how I painted and added glitter to faux pumpkins HERE. It’s a fun project you can even do with the kids 🙂
I love mercury glass, so these sweet hobnail votives were a must add to our collection! I have big plans for them in this years Christmas decor, but I couldn’t wait until then to bust these sweet ladies out! I filled a few with more hydrangea clippings, which you see here on the bottom shelf.
Fall doesn’t have to be fussy. Keeping things simple allows you to enjoy the season, and cozy up with plenty of layers. Now the fun part!!! Be sure to stop by and see what each of my friends are up too!

Hello,
I love your kitchen shelves – exactly what I’ve been looking for! Where can I find them?
Thank you – Kate

HI Kate! We used some pre-finished boards we had purchased from IKEA years ago, and the corbels came from Home Depot, in the lumber section, and I painted them white.

I’ve been snipping the turning hydrangeas in those colors too, and was thinking the same thing – that they weren’t flower colors I’d choose, but they were free and were truly “seasonal” so I went with it! All looks lovely, Bre. And that dough bowl is amaaaaazing!

Hello Bre,
I recently found you and your blog and I simply can’t get enough! I feel as if I have met a kindred spirit! Your design style is farmhouse beautiful, comfortable, calming, and inviting. It “feels good”. That feeling is what I am striving for in my home.
In January I will be buying my brother and sister-in-laws’ home. In 1989, he built the home himself (with two home builders/carpenters) and literally duplicated the style design of a home he found photos of from the 1850’s outside of Austin, TX! I will have the pleasure of creating my own perfect, dream farmhouse on 3 gorgeous acres in Longview, Texas! I am now using your home photos and several of your blogger friends as style and design inspiration! But your home is my absolute favorite.
Thank you so very much for sharing your lovely home and creative style with all of us who love you!
