Spring Styled Hutch

The hutch in our dining room is one of my favorite places to add a few seasonal touches marking the beginning of a new season. Every Christmas it’s the first spot I decorate adding miniature houses and tiny bottle brush trees. After the holidays are over, I remove anything that feels too “christmas-y”, I wipe everything down and display my favorite serving pieces I’ve collected over the years. Then once spring arrives I’m ready to add some pops of greenery back into my hutch. It always adds a breath of fresh air back into our dining room, so today I’m sharing how I styled our hutch for spring.

It may not feel quite like spring outside this week here in New England, but the calendar tells me it’s coming. March can always feel like a weird month, almost stuck in this in-between sort of state. With the tease of a couple of warm days, and day-light savings, the promise of spring is on the horizon. But with the bitter cold days of winter still lingering sometimes you aren’t sure what season you are in. Hello Friends!! It’s Spring, it’s Spring!! Or so I’m telling myself that, because as I type this there it is snowing here in NH. Yes friends – SNOW, in April. Which for a New Englander is nothing new. Just as we are beginning to see buds on the trees and new life emerge from the ground, the threat of a spring snow is always a possibility. A common factor of spring in New England that I keep trying to teach my kids about. Thankfully it usually disappears as quickly as it shows up, but nonetheless just when you think winter is officially over, it comes back around for one more visit.
