Do I have an exciting surprise for you! If you follow me on Instagram than I hinted to it last week when I shared a picture of our bedroom, but I have changed things up! Today I am joining my friends kicking off the Christmas part of our Farmhouse Holiday Series, by sharing our bedroom decorated for Christmas with Birch Lane. But I also gave our room a little mini-makeover in the process!
Two years ago I had moved our bedroom around, and we created a barn wood accent wall. I loved it, still do, and don’t worry it’s still there. It’s just to the right (not pictured) of the photo above. However I was ready for our room to feel a little bit more elegant.
It was love at first sight, when I laid eyes on this beautiful linen upholstered headboard with slightly weathered wood trim. It was the perfect blend of my favorite decor staples and that classic farmhouse style vibe.
Since our linens where all white before, I had fun mixing in different shades of gray to warm things up for winter months. I know that typically for Christmas their are traditional colors and festive pops, but just adding in warmer hues made it feel extra cozy.
I added this light gray linen duvet cover from BirchLane that has a beautiful embroidered border that adds the tiniest delicate detail without feeling too fussy for me.
I also brought in a charcoal gray quilt with a classic stitch that will last a long time, which is also from Birch Lane. A faux fur throw from HomeGoods completed our cozy bedding layers.
Of course layering lots of throw pillows with cold weather texture is my subtle way of swapping over to winter from summer.
I picked up this velvet lumbar pillow from HomeGoods this year. It’s a charcoal gray with a subtle hint of blue. I also love knit throw pillows. They instantly make things cozy for colder temps, and the added bonus is they last through all of winter.
These gray cable knit throw pillows are from Birch Lane, and have such a nice soft chenille feeling to them. I added these in front of the linen pleat lumbar pillows I’ve had from IKEA so to emphasize the cozy factor.
Subtle Christmas touches have started to make their appearance throughout our house. I love making the details shine, and with a neutral palette it’s easy to touches of Christmas become the main focal point.
A cloche filled with twinkle lights, and simple christmas trees. Subtle christmas art hung on the walls, a fresh bayleaf wreath and accents of greenery spread throughout our room, make the shift that the Christmas season is approaching.
I can’t help but hum the tune of Christmas carols now every time I’m in our room, and I have to admit it definitely adds to the Christmas cheer while I’m decorating. I will be back tomorrow to share more details that went into our bedroom mini – makeover, but here is a list of most of the sources.
