And of course sipping your favorite holiday beverage helps too 🙂 Lets get started.

Holiday Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

When I started dreaming up my Christmas table, I wanted it to feel like you were taking a walk through a snow covered forest, looking up at snow covered trees. It’s so breathtaking and magical when the trees are covered in snow, and as you glance through our table, at all the different trees, I wanted it to feel like were going for a walk in a beautiful winter scene.

Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Growing up, going to my grandmothers house during the holidays always felt like you stepped into a story book filled with Christmas treasures. Her house was filled from top to bottom, with every kind of Christmas decoration you could imagine. She didn’t stick to one style or color palette. If it resembled Christmas she used it!

Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

And boy did it feel magical. Every flat surface she had was filled with a different collection. From a christmas village, to different kinds of nativity’s, vintage or handmade, nothing felt out of place, it all just flowed together. The top of her piano was used to display her christmas trees. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

She had all different shapes and sizes. Some that lit up, some that you could crank like a music box and would spin while playing an old carol. Our favorite thing to do was place all the little glass lightbulbs in the branches so when you turned it on you could see the rainbow of colors. My christmas tree table takes me right back to that feeling I had as a kid. Where I could just sit and stare in awe at the magical site before me.

I carried the mixed metals into my place settings as well. I started by placing my gold-bead chargers from my thanksgiving table down first. Then for an added wintery touch, found these white dinner plates with gold and silver snowflakes at HomeGoods. I topped them off with a smaller silver banded plate from my inherited china set.

These shiny place settings pop on top of my linen tablecloth and new faux fur runner from HomeGoods as well. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

The white faux fur table runner adds the perfect amount of texture, while making it feel like the trees are placed upon white fluffy snow. All the trees are from HomeGoods this year as well, including my metal deer, with tea light holders in their antlers. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Complimenting each place setting are these beautiful dusty gold glassware from HomeGoods. They have an elegant beaded pattern on them, and totally make me reminiscent of those beautiful dinners you would see on Downton Abbey. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Behind the table, on the wall above our buffet, I created a gallery wall out of vintage silver trays. I wish I could say these were all mine, but I have a fabulous friend who has some of the best collections, and among them are these silvery platters she is letting me borrow. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

One thing grammy always had out were holiday treats! I swear she cultivated my love for Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blogsweets, or maybe it was because she always let us have dessert before dinner when we were at her house?! She was also famous for always having candy dishes out during the holiday season.

It’s funny the simple joys you remember most from your childhood. It’s certainly something I try to be aware of with my own kids. Creating memories, and traditions that they will remember, and make Christmas feel magical for them.

I loved the finish and the detail on this shallow wing dish I found at HomeGoods, and thought it was the perfect size for some of my own holiday treats. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Around the table, I added some new throw pillows, also from HomeGoods, to make it feel warm and cozy. I also added a bench from our entryway to make room for more seating. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I finished off each place setting with a mini spiced bundt cake for an added holiday touch. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I’ll be sharing how I made these later this week, but one of the aisle’s I can never resist at HomeGoods is their bakeware section. I found a set of these mini-bundt pans, and they make the perfect single serving size. Christmas Tablescape | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I hope you feel inspired this holiday season to create something magical in your own home for your friends and family to enjoy!

My husband’s mom never decorated for Christmas or made a big deal about celebrating, so even though we don’t have children, I’ve been able to watch him experience Christmas traditions for the first time. It’s a wonderful thing!
