Hi Friends!! You may have noticed in our Spring Home Tour last week, we got a new rug in the dining room!
I really have to fight my urges in the dining room when it comes to an area rug. It’s a high traffic area, not to mention potential spills from meals with friends or family, and our wood stove is located in our dining room. Which means in the winter we bring in a wood ring to fill with cord wood. Lots of dust, lots of debris, to make this high traffic room even more at risk for dirt. I liked the rug I had in the space, I really did.
After using it in a few clients homes I was in love with it even more in person. However in our dining room, it was a little too small for underneath our table, the chairs barely fit on it, and it was just too busy for the space. Our ceilings are low, and our chandelier takes up a lot of space visually, so it started feeling very claustrophobic to me after awhile. I 
couldn’t figure out for the life of me why it was starting to bother me, when I loved the color, loved the patter, especially when I used it in other people’s homes as well. I should know by now not to fight my neutral loving choices. While I like adding color and patterns to our space, I realized that I like it best when it shows up in small doses like in throw pillows and accessories. I knew I needed a neutral rug for our dining room because those were my favorite. So why wouldn’t I decorate with my favorite pieces. I like jute rugs, but was craving something a little softer, and was afraid if I went with the same jute rug in our living room it would blend too much with our lighter wood floors we have in our dining room.
I found this soft cotton woven rug at Rugs USA, and loved that it had the texture of a jute rug, but was soft and a bit more neutral in color.
It’s even softer in person than it appears, and I love the soft neutral background it adds to the space. I chose the beige color to help hide the everyday traffic.

I love your decorating style…beautiful, but simple. I would love to have a rug for our dining room to help cover up a poorly installed (by a contractor) laminate floor that is separating at the seams. I am “freshening up” my living room with the two “mom cave” chairs you suggested and this beautiful rug. I was between this rug and a bordered neutral rug at Joss & Main but have opted for this due to its softer texture.
They will pair very nicely with my neutral chairs. Now to get a more powerful vacuum…..hahaha! It’s tough loving neutrals and owning golden retrievers but it’s a GOOD problem to have!

I liked the blue one…but I love this one! It allows your beautiful chandy to be the star. I would either pick the same one or the Maui Simple Jute for our living room-thinking the woven cotton might actually be a better replacement for the jute rug I have there currently! I love that it still has the chunky texture that you get from jute but it probably is a lot easier to care for!

I love the look of the seagrass and jute rugs but was hesitant because you can’t clean them nor are the comfortable to walk on with bare feet. We would like be to freshen up our our kitchen. Our current rug under our table is an embarrassment. I love our current rug, it’s a natural fiber but once water hit the edges the deterioration began, I’ve stopped cutting it back, it’s at a point of no return

Hi Bre, love the new rug! I’ve been wanting one in our dining area for a while now but I’m not sure I trust my youngest’s table manners quite yet.
Our playroom is the area of choice for a new rug. We live in a 115 year old renovated home but the hardwoods are original. In that time they would often use quality wood on the border of rooms and a less quality on the inner portion which would rot through the years. So let’s just say it’s imperative we have a 9×11 in there to cover up the mismatched boards used to replace the original flooring in the center. Unfortunately 9 x 11s do not come cheap as we all know. We have the rug in place that came with the house bit its not my jam. Thanks for the opportunity! ?

We would love a rug for our finished basement.. our home is 30 years old and we are gradually replacing all of the tired, worn out items. Thankfully the roof is new?. The basement has orange and brown flecked carpet. It’s also ripped in the center but is basically the last item we will be replacing unless we win a rug…

OoO, so gorgeous! My downstairs LIving room needs a rug to break up the sea of blue/grey carpet in the large space. We have a new built in bookcase designed and built by my husband. It also serves as a buffet between our dinning room. A bright, light colored rug would just pull the entire room together.

Hi! We recently moved to a home with hardwood floors. I love these floors but we really need to cozy up the living room with a rug. So many choices though and such an expense! I would love a light neutral, sturdy rug in my family room, it also needs to be soft since we, well, live in that room. We sit and read there, listen to music, watch television and play with our dogs. Friends come to loll around on the sofas and watch football and eat chili in the fall. It’s an all purpose life room. I would like to freshen it up with a new rug, one that’s soft and can take a bit of traffic!
