Hello Friends!! I’m so excited to be joining in on the Seasonal Simplicity tour again, this time around for the summer series! I loved joining in on the spring series, and it’s always so much fun to see what everyone comes up with. I love having loads of inspiration all teamed up together in one place like this. Today we are all sharing our summer mantle’s with you. You remember my Spring Mantle with faux plants and terra cotta pots. Since I don’t technically have a mantle I decorate in our house, I use my buffet in our dining room to create seasonal vignettes. It’s a great spot because you have to walk through our dining room to get to any other room in our house, so it gets lots of visual activity.
I’ve mentioned before how much I love bringing in that pop of blue for summer. It totally reminds me of summer days spent at the beach, and I love the subtle coastal effect it adds to my decor.
Usually I have a large round mirror hanging over the dresser in our dining room, but I wanted to change things up for the summer. It’s nice to move things around every once in a while, it totally freshens up the space.
In it’s place I hung this Ache For Home sign by Between You & Me. It’s the perfect message to take center stage. It reads:
The ache for home is in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned. – Maya Angelou
I love this saying so much. I feel like it speaks to the core of why I choose to create a home that is welcoming and inviting to others, but most importantly my family. A safe place that they come, just as they are. Accepted, loved, and welcomed. I think it’s something we all long for inside, even if we don’t always put words to it.
Once I had my artwork in the middle as the largest piece, it was time to add some symmetry to both sides. Adding in some blues I stacked some coffee table books I am loving right now, that are all in a similar shade of blue.
Then to add in some more blue on the opposite side, I hung these sea glass beads around my lamp. I just removed the shade, and draped the strand of beads around the “neck” of the lamp, like a necklace if you will, and then put the lamp shade back on.
I also brought in one of my favorite indigo throw pillows I got last spring, because it’s slightly faded shade remind me of my cut off jean shorts, that are a staple in the summer!
I incorporated the soft blue vase I picked up this past spring, and just changes out the faux greens in it for summer. I also placed an antique mason jar that is a subtle blue, filled with seashells and sea glass my kids have collected from past trips to the beach.
To balance the look on the left side, I used more faux greens at a similar height to my lamp, and a faux white shell vase I had picked up from target a few summers back.
Check out the talented group of bloggers I’ve teamed up with to share our simple and beautiful summer mantel {or summer vignette} ideas with you!

Beautiful vignette! I adore that quote, how true – home is a soft place for me, somewhere I can be myself. <3 I am also so impressed with the faux string of pearl plant, it looks SO real! Do you mind sharing where you bought that? xo
