Well I did it, I put up our Christmas tree today! Don’t worry it’s not decorated yet, but its up and it’s pretty white lights are on. It’s like instant magic the moment the lights get plugged in. Every time it instantly evokes a sense of wonder and child like awe for the season. So before we get into full swing Christmas here on the blog, I decided to do a little round up of this year’s fall decor to make it easy to find. And what better way to celebrate fall before we all jump into Christmas than with some more pretty pictures 😉 [Read more…]
I have been so enjoying seeing everyones lovely home for fall lately! I shared some more of our home decorated for fall earlier this week with friends from the bHome app. And today I’m back with more friends from the Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series for our final fall post. Today we are sharing how we decorated our porches for Fall, sponsored by the fabulous people at Joss & Main. [Read more…]
The dust has settled. You know that gets kicked up with kids going back to school and summer ending. Well maybe it’s just the last bit of beach sand being shaken out from our car, but life finally feels like it is in somewhat of a routine, and the air is crisp with fall. I’m teaming up with my friends at bHome to share a little bit more of fall around our home. [Read more…]
Happy Tuesday Friends!! I’m so excited to be back for another round of Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series. Today we are sharing our Living Rooms decorated for fall. If you have been visiting my blog since the beginning of the year than you may remember me sharing how I wanted to “Simplify our Spaces“. This year has been about simplifying. Not adding more, but really emphasizing on special details. It’s easy to feel the need to add a ton to your decor when decorating for new seasons, however I chose to make subtle transitions to gradually add fall into our living room. [Read more…]
I love finding new homes oozing with farmhouse style. I think it’s no secret around here that I love anything with a farmhouse flair, and I’m sure you probably feel the same way, which is why you are here or why you stick around my little corner of the web. When I started this blog “farmhouse style” was yet to be considered a term, but I think it has poured a strong foundation over the last year or so in the world of interior design. To continue to share my love for farmhouse style homes, I wanted to create a home tour series where I share with you a “new-to-me” home that oozes with charm and character, and quite frankly I just can’t get enough of! Happy Summer Friends! I’m so excited to be teaming up with almost 30 bloggers this week to share our summer spaces with you, along with Birch Lane and Country Living Magazine. Living in the northeast, with bitter winters, it’s no surprise that summer has us begging to stay outside as long as we can. [Read more…]
Welcome friends to our Celebrate Summer Home Tour, hosted by the talented Julie Blanner. Yesterday was Day 1, and you can catch the beginning HERE, and if you are coming over from Liz at Love Grows Wild, then welcome! I’m so glad you here! It’s funny for me to look back through past home tours, because no 2 are the same. Even though I love my neutrals and I have the same color palette for most of them, there is a different flair on each one. Even the transition from Spring to Summer, I like my home’s decor to reflect the season changing outside. If you are new here than let me give you the 30-second welcome! We live in New England, in an 1846 farmhouse that we share with our 2 kids, ages 5 and 7, and our latest addition 6 chickens! My favorite color is white, just ask my kids, and while Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for, I think summer suits our house best. Everything just feels right, if that doesn’t sound to cooky at all. Oh and when I’m not on here, you can find me on Instagram (@roomsforrent)!! I have a little more on that later too, but first lets get on with the tour.
Farmhouse Spring Home Tour! Just saying the word puts a smile on my face. I don’t know why, but I don’t think I can say the word “spring” without smiling. I instantly get visions in my head of flowers popping up out of the ground, and trees budding outside. A sign that winter is over, and a new season is beginning. I always say that fall is my favorite season, and Christmas is my favorite holiday, but secretly every time spring hits, it gives fall a run for it’s money. Something about the warmer air, the longer days, and the signs of fresh new green everywhere gives me peace.
So it’s no secret, I like to decorate with Christmas trees. Any size, real or faux, I’m really not that picky, but I think I look at mini christmas trees like some people look at puppies or kittens. You know a dog or a cat may be nice, but when you see a little tiny baby one, you start talking to it all cute-sie, woot-sie, and it makes you smile. Yeah, I kinda fall for little christmas trees that way too! We have a running joke around here about how many trees will it be this year? Which I always reply to – you can never have enough! With that said I think right now our running count is about 67. UMM yes, you are reading that number correctly. My husband jokes, so one night in a bet, he went around and counted all the trees in every room of our house that had been decorated – because I wasn’t done yet, and he landed at 52. I had a little bit left to do and that rounded out our count to about 15 more. Now mind you he counted every tree, from our main tree down to the mini bottle brush trees, and all that fall in between. I’m not ashamed at all by that number though, secretly it gives me a challenge. I can see the post title now “100 Christmas Tress for Christmas”. I’m not that far off from it. So whether it happens at this house or a future one, you can rest assure you will be the first to know! Since you now know how much I love to decorate with Christmas trees, I thought I would show you some of the different ways I decorate with them around the house. [Read more…]
Hello and WELCOME!! I’m so glad you are here, and joining us for our Christmas House Tour this year. To say we are thrilled to be apart of this tour is an understatement. I can still remember everything, as if it were yesterday, when I found out I was going to be apart of this years tour! Our lovely host Jennifer Rizzo started these dreamy christmas tours just as I was starting to get into blogs. So you can imagine my dream as a new blogger to one day be apart of such a beautiful tour. I look forward to them every year, and after linking up last years christmas tour with fingers and toes crossed, I about fainted when I found out I had been chosen. Well maybe not fainted, but there were definitely a few tears shed. I think I have been looking forward to this day ever since then. So with a heart FULL of gratitude I am so excited to be joining in this year’s Holiday Housewalk partnering with Joss & Main, and Good Housekeeping magazine. [Read more…]
Happy Friday Friends!!! I’m so excited to be sharing another round of Houses on Instagram with all of you! I was thrilled to have her apart of the Thanksgiving Tablescape tour, and now she’s back sharing her beautiful home with all of you!! Please give a warm welcome to Annie from Zevy Joy. [Read more…]
Hello Friends!! I’m so excited for today!! Well giddy with excitement for this whole week as we kick off the Thanksgiving Tablescape Tour. We have such a line up in store for you, which I shared HERE. I will also be sharing links and some photos each day this week so you can follow along with every home involved. I’ll be honest with you I was a bit smitten with last years Mercury Glass Tablescape that I was wondering how I was going to top it? Then I remembered something sweet about inspiration. It’s not about topping the one you did before, or always making it bigger or better. It’s about creating a welcoming and inviting place for those you love to join you in gathering around the table to share life with one another. If I look at my tablescapes like an artist looks at their paintings. They don’t approach each painting with the thought of how to one up the painting they did before. Each blank canvas provides the opportunity to create something beautiful. Something different than what they did before. So this year I went for something different. I get so inspired by beautiful tables set outside, surrounded by natures beauty. So that’s just what I did. I hope you are inspired as well! [Read more…]
Happy Monday Friends!!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! I had something pretty amazing happen over the weekend on Instagram, and I will be back tomorrow to share more on that. Don’t worry it’s nothing ground shaking, we aren’t getting our own HGTV show (because that seems to be the trend lately), but something to me on a much deeper level, and I can’t wait to share more on that tomorrow. Speaking of Instagram thought, I have another installment of Houses on Instagram! With so many blogs out there these days, it’s not as common for you to cross paths as much as it was in the earlier days of blogging. That’s another reason I love instagram. You can cross paths with so many people you might of never seen online, but in this closer knit community of people, some blog, some don’t, but we are all there with one common purpose. We love home decor, and encouraging one another. That’s why I started this series. To share beautiful homes with all of you, that I found from Instagram, and have grown to love their feeds, and the beautiful people behind them. [Read more…]
