Happy Friday. Well I’ve been wanting to do this little project for quite some time now, and I finally got around to it today. HOORAY. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. SO allow me to show you what I am referring to ๐ I first saw this picture in a PBkids catalogue a few years
ago, and simply fell in love. Then I had my son, so no girly decor in the nursery for me.
Then a year and a half later I was blessed with another little bundle of joy,
a girl.
But 4 weeks after she was born, we found a house,
and 4 weeks after that we moved. So needless to say there was
no setting up, it was taking down and packing. Well, now that she is almost one,
and sharing a room with her brother, I am finally getting there room
established. I always
wanted to do a shabby chic theme for her, but
with both of them in the same room
that was out of the question.
Then I received some free, let me say it again
FREE
pottery barn kids bedding for her from my sisters
friend, and it matched so perfectly
with Carters bedding, and it was in great condition, so I couldn’t pass
it up. And then as I was grazing through photos one night I stumbled across this one
again, online. And thought that would match perfectly, and add a bit of girly-ness
that I was hoping for.
See:
So cute, right? pay paticular attention to the darling little flower wreath hanging over the crib.
So Cute. It was the same photo from before, and now I had a reason to
make one ๐ So this is what I started with :
The ribbon I already had = free (score), and the large pink flowers, and blue gerber
daisies I had left over from a project I did in my younger sisters room. All I needed was
a few more flowers, and the actual wreath. So while at hobby lobby to get a birthday present,
I grabbed what I need there, at a great discount. The smaller pink gerber daisies I got
four for $3.34, that’s less than a $1 per flower, and the wreath I got
for $1.99 = another score. All I had to do was get out my hot glue gun, and glue sticks.
Btw, if you do not have one of these, one of my staples for projects. They
are so easy to use, and make things effortless.
I grabbed the ribbon first and started wrapping it around the wreath like so. (refer to photo above)
One color at a time, just kind of what I thought looked pretty ๐
Then, I snipped little pieces to hang down from the wreath, for a frilly
look.
Once I was done with the ribbon, it was onto the flowers. I just glued them in little clusters, kind of randomly around the wreath, and came up with this:
Once I was done with that it was up to their room to hang it. I grabbed
a white screw hook and screwed it into
the ceiling above where I wanted to hang the wreath.
Then eye-balling how far down I wanted it to drop, I measured the bright pink
ribbon to the right length. Looped through the wreath, and
hung it on the hook. This is what I got:
So cute, right?
I’m so happy with how this came out,
kicking myself for not doing it sooner, and Dannika
LOVES it. Tested it today with her nap,
and she didn’t take her eyes
off of it.
And if your keeping track, my total $$ spent = $5.33
compared to pottery barn’s version close to $89
YIKES.
I like my price much better, and yes I know their version is larger,
but the crib is up against an angled ceiling, so I didn’t
want one too big.
So there you have it, and since it’s friday I’m going to link up to
