As I’m writing this post, I have such a HUGE smile on my face.
Not only because this BIG project is finally complete ๐ But thinking about how nice
and toasty warm we will be this winter,
and snuggling up next to a roaring fire with a cup of coffee,
ohhh, can’t wait. Anyhow onto our newest addition.
We installed a wood stove, and I’m so excited with how it came out.
We wanted to centrally locate the stove in our house, so that we could maximize the heat, so
it would spread throughout the rest of the house.
So we decided on our dining room,
especially since our chimney runs up through the center of our house,
so we could tap right into that.
perfect.
Here is our dining room (looking into the living room, w/ the kitchen behind me).
To the right is a wall full of windows, and looking to the left, is another room (currently occupied), and so our area of focus was the corner of the room where the desk is.
Honestly, it is the perfect little nook, because it has this awkward curved wall on the left, and goes back into this little odd shaped corner. SO awkward space turned into money saving,
alternative heat source.
First, let me say that this project was solely done by professionals. While we
enjoy doing projects, we want things done right, And while most of it
is pretty much DIY, there were a few codes that we had
to follow.
I’m just glad in this case my husband was the professional.
So that = $$ saved in labor ๐
He is the manager at Crown Chimney & Tree, so it was a no
brainer when it came to who was doing the work.
And since one of our house guests also works for the company,
hubby had an extra set of hands.
First order of business was to bring the chimney to code. So liners were installed
for both the furnace and wood stove, and insulated, and then
we were up and running.
Second order of business was installing the boards to have the right heat clearance’s.
I know, still not pretty, but now all the ground work is done.
Next up the stone.
First row done, and a whole lot more to go before we’re finished.
ok, stone done, now time for mortar, and then the mantle.
Now time to make it pretty, and finish things up.
After a few coats of white paint, and some finishing touches, we are DONE.
A Big thank you to the hard working men in our house, and to Crown Chimney for always making sure the guys strive for excellence with their work. It came out SO good. The pictures don’t really
portray the warmth this adds to the room, and no, I’m not talking about the heat just yet.
Even though we are just about in December, it’s been a little unseasonably warm, even with a snow storm in October. But we are ready to go for the winter, and
I’m so glad to have this project complete, and my dining room
back in order.
I also finished painting my dining room table, I will post pics on that project soon.
AND so you don’t have to squint I will be putting up
better pics of the mantle christmas decor,
along with all the other christmas decorations I have up around the
house.
So here is one more quick Before & After
Well, have a wonderful rest of the week ๐

Bre, I love it! It looks great and I am sure it will be useful and cozy on those cold days coming in after frolicking in the snow with Carter and Dannika. You and Jesse are so talented!
