Well, today I just wanted to share with you some of the holiday decor that is going on over here. I still feel like I have so much more I want to do to spread the christmas cheer around the house. And I’m sure as the month goes on, I will be adding little touches here and there, but I figured I would share with you the transformation our shelves in the dining room took.
Here is what I had before:
Here is what I had before:
~still with my tiny pumpkins on them and my pumpkin spice candle~
And here’s what they look like now:
I used the left over tree branches we had cut off from the bottom
of our christmas tree, and then filled some clear vases with pinecones & christmas decorations, and a few other things. Here’s a closer look at each shelf ๐
I kept the bottom shelf pretty simple, other than adding a few branches, and a small silver star,
because let’s face it, with a 10 1/2 month old who is trying to
walk, I have to keep this one less interesting so she
won’t be enticed to explore ๐
I added two clusters with white poinsettia and silver berries, and I put one of my silver reindeer
on these shelves, and his friend is across the room on our new mantle. I also added
a white plate in front of the wooden serving bowl to class
it up a bit.
Then I took one of my ‘after dinner’ drink glasses from my china set,
and filled it with left over cranberries from thanksgiving,
and topped it with some pine cones.
Then we have the top shelf.
I walked through the yard and grabbed some pine cones
and placed them in candle holders
for display.
simple.quick.easy.
Throughout the rest of the dining room I added similar things to my hutch and mirror above it.
I have the same wreaths from last year, but change out the ornaments and ribbons
so the coordinate with this years color choices.
Makes using things you already have on hand easy.
Here is a close up of the vase filler:
I used an assortment of pine cones, red and silver ornaments, and some twiggy
garland with silver buds all over them.
I tried to carry red throughout the whole house, so that red would
be my primary color for christmas
this year.
I kept things pretty simple this year on top of the tv unit.
I might add more, but for now this simple
statement works.
And did this little arrangement in our downstairs bathroom on
the window ledge.
So slowly but surely the christmas cheer is being spread through out the house.
And if you ask my husband he can’t seem to imagine there
being anything else left to do,
but if you know me well at all, you know that’s not true ๐
Have you already started decorating for christmas yet?
I’m also linking up today to the holiday link party over at
