Well it’s about time, and I know this is soooo way over-do,
but sometimes time just flies by.
Like tomorrow we are in June?! How did that happen.
I have a few more tiny details that I want to add to our living room,
but there has been way to much updated,
that it is time to show you some progress.
After all, you have been so kind to give me feedback
when debating new lamps, curtains & pillows π
Here is what the living room looked like just after we moved in.
Well lets rewind just a bit more.
When we moved in everything was a rich golden yellow.
Soon to be painted Wasabi Powder by Behr.
I won this fantastic rug by Company C,
which you can see in the first photo.
which you can see in the first photo.
I loved it, but unfortunately with two little kids on the floor,
we were needing something a bit larger,
and I was really wanting a rug that would ground the space a little more,
and fit under the sofas and under the coffee table π
So at an end of the year clearance sale I snagged this lovely 8X10, in navy, from Rugs USA.
It was a bold choice for me,
but I’m happy to say, that I love it!
Hooray for impulse buy… for once, right?!
Once the new rug was in place, it totally made our table lamps stick out like a sore thumb.
So on the hunt I was, and you can read about that here.
I grabbed these lovelies from Target,
in their mix and match section where you pick out the base and then the shade you like.
They have a tiny navy blue stripe on the top and bottom of the shade,
which tie things in perfectly.
Then it was time for some new pillows.
So I grabbed some fabric on sale at JoAnn’s, and made faux french grain sack pillows,
which I LOVE.
(To see how I made them click here).
Still have one more throw pillow to add to the space.
Finish hanging some things on the wall.
And this is where we are at:
When we started:
And our current state :
We replaced the glider chair in the corner with a twin Ektorp chair from IKEA,
and slid the blue striped one over. I already had the white slipcover,
so we just had to buy the chair.
I received the shutter from my friend Kellie over at 1895 Spaces & Such,
as a thank you for helping her paint horizontal stripes in their
new living room = such a blast.
It was a gorgeous blue color, and I hated to paint it, but I really
wanted it in the living room, and unfortunately it was the wrong shade.
I have to get that color name from her though, because it was perfect!
The oar I got for my birthday, which you can read about here.
The rusted license plate I picked up years ago,
the print I saw on Pinterest,
and just printed it out on photo paper,
and the red antique truck is a painting from some great friends of ours.
He also did the ones I have in the bathroom.
Looking into the dining room from the living room.
I moved the sign above the doorway to another spot,
and replaced it with some wooden fishing poles the hubby got for free at a customers house.
One thing that I couldn’t wait to do was add these dark wood bamboo blinds to our living room.
We have them in the kitchen and in the dining room,
and I love the warmth and the texture that they added to the rest of the house,
so it was a no brainer to carry them into the living room,
especially since everything is open and flows from one room to the next.
See what I mean:
So let’s revisit that original check list:
polish knick knacks
Almost there!
Thanks for following the updates π

LOVE your living room design! I’m preparing to redo our living room via your inspiration! However, I have picked up a Benjamine Moore sample swatch and can not find Wasabi Powder…I’ve looked online as well. Just wondering where you bought this paint?
THANKS!
Hey Beth.. sorry it took my a week to get back to you! OK, so I went downstairs and actually looked at the can of paint, and to my surprise it’s Behr! which is totally fine, but I did get it at Home Depot, and that is where I found the color as well. So I will correct my info error. So sorry about leading you in the wrong direction. But I did find/pick it out/ and get the paint at home depot. And it is called Wasabi Powder, and on the can it says: Base-1854 under the color? not sure if that is the reference number, or what, but if you need anything else, or have trouble finding it, PLEASE let me know, and I would be happy to send you a pic of the label on the paint can as well π Thanks, and so glad you like the room π ~Bre
We found it!! AND…LOVE IT! I hope you are ok with the fact that I am pretty much copying your entire living room design =)
I am also in love with your rug and a few similar ones from RugUSA….just hoping for a closeout sale soon! Would you be willing to share what the clearance price was when you found it? I’ve found similar on Overstock.com, which is currently the cheaper price, but I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth the wait for a sale!
Also about this rug…I have three boys under age 4 and two pups…how do you think it will hold up? too much white and not enough pattern to hide dirt??
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
OHH YEAH!! Beth that’s fantastic!! I’m so glad you found it, YEAH! I am in LOVE with this rug, mostly for it’s durability!!My kids are allowed snacks and sippy cups in the living room, so I was concerned with the white trellis, too much, but I’m happy to say for the most part, it seems to hide A LOT! I have had a few spills that happened to be in some white parts, but I just spray it with stain remover for rugs.. let it sit a few minutes blotch it with a papertowel, and sometimes even let it soak and then run the vaccum over it, and that seems to work just fine. I’ve had mine for just about a year, and I will like it still looks the same as I did the day I got it. I love the wool, and get compliments on it from everyone that comes over. I think I got it for around $319 ish??? I can’t exactly remember, but it was in that area, and it was on 12/29/11… because I remember it was end of the year sale. But I’ve gone on their website off and on, and they seem to have sales quite a bit. Hope that helps π And I am more than flattered that you like my room enough to do the same in your own home! Huge compliment in my eyes, so no worries there π If there’s anything else I can help with feel free to ask π OH real quick, when I first got it, the rug shed, not crazy, but I remember it took quite a few vaccums to finally subside. Didn’t want you to be concerned when you get yours. Have fun! Let me know when it’s done, I would LOVE to see photos!! ~Bre
I love the coffee table. Where did you find it?
Believe it or not it was a hand me down we got from my inlaws when we first got married.. it was a lighter piney/orangeish color more country looking, and I sanded it down and re stained it dark walnut π I’m not sure where they got it π ~Bre

Looks so much better! Looks like it was all totally planned. Patterns work great together!
I think those bamboo blinds add the perfect layer to really bring the whole space together. Oh, and fantastic rug too!
The room is extraordinary! That rug is PERFECT – really really nice. You just did a great job. Really like the green walls as well (I’m a green girl). You have a new follower.
What a warm, cozy space! Our Living Room is a very similar paint colour (and also used to be yellow like yours), so this gives me lots of ideas for things to do in the future. I love the rug and how it completely transformed the space . . . and the blinds! Wow!

visiting via Inspiration Friday – i really really like the way the room came together. And i’m a sucker for those blinds (seagrass??). I wish people would use navy and green together more, it’s got such a fresh feel.
OHH THanks so much! I love the blinds too!! They are just the bamboo ones I grabbed at Lowe’s, and they come in 2 shades, the dark ones I got, and then that lighter shade. Super easy, and about $12 ea.! Love the texture they had to the space π ~Bre
