I’m so excited to share this recent project with you guys,
because a.) I love wooden signs,
and b.) this one has great sentimental value.
A few weekends ago
the hubby and I got to go away overnight
to celebrate our Anniversary.
{crappy cell phone shot, but had to share the view from our room}
We chose to go to Portsmouth, because it’s just about our favorite place to go.
It’s the perfect New England town, right on the coast, with so much history,
cute shops, and plenty of places to walk around and eat!
{corner view from where we had breakfast}
We had a fantastic time, the weather was perfect,
the food was good,
and the company was great!
It was so nice to have some alone time, and be able
to finish a conversation without a “mommy”,”daddy”.
By far probably my favorite memory this past summer.
So in honor of our Anniversary,
I wanted to make something really personal for us to have in our house.
I love filling my walls with family photos,
and things that are significant just to us,
and a while back when I was thinking about it,
the idea came to me.
And now it’s finally complete!
I love wooden signs.
Any and all types.
So when I was thinking of what I wanted ours to say,
I decided it should be the name of a place,
and why not the place where it all began.
{Prescott Park}
A few blocks from downtown, right on the harbor is this beautiful park.
Full of flower beds to walk around and admire.
And right here is where Jesse proposed.
We sat on that very bench 8 years ago, and he asked me to marry him!
So for us, this is where “we” began.
And to celebrate that, I chose to make a sign reminding us of that very moment.
Using an old piece of barn board,
that I stained and then hand painted.
We have one wall in our room with an eaved ceiling,
so I knew this would be the perfect spot to hang it.
It fills up the space perfectly,
{I don’t normally have the baskets and stuff there, just trying to hide the radiator 🙂 }
instead of having to worry about pictures falling off the wall,
or just leaving the space blank.
It hangs at the end of our bed, so when I wake up every morning,
it makes me smile,
because I love seeing something on the wall,
but more importantly it reminds me of that very special day.
So now you have the story behind the sign.
A place in our hearts that we love to go back and visit often 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
