Hello Friends! Today I am joining some blogging friends as we share a mantle or vignette, styled for the first signs of spring! Can you believe it!! We still have snow here in the northeast, but I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I am already itching for spring. I’m sharing some simple vignettes I currently have in my dining room, that have the slightest nod towards spring, but could be used all year round as well.
Come and take a look ~

I started by grabbing a round tray basket. This one I picked up at HomeGoods years ago, but any tray works. I like using a corralling my vignette in a tray, because it makes it easy to remove from the table, or slide out of the way quickly if I need to.

At first I placed the tray on my bare table, but quickly realized that because the color of my basket and table are very similar, I wanted to break it up a little bit. I still wanted my table to show, so instead of using a table cloth, I grabbed THIS turkish towel I found on Amazon, and draped it over my table diagonally, for a more casual look.

Once my tray was in place, I grabbed 3 items to place inside it. Sticking with the general rule of thumb when creating a vignette, that odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye.
My Go-To Items Are:
- Flowers – real or faux
- White Pitcher
- Books
- Candles or Candle holders
- Farmhouse Creamer
- Pots
- Glass bottles
- Stacked Plates
- Cake Stand

To create this vignette, I grabbed my largest item first – which was this large recycled glass jar I got from HomeGoods in the beginning of the year, and filled it with my favorite faux white tulips, from Amazon.

I finished off the vignette with a farmhouse pitcher, and a cow creamer. Making sure that all three of pieces have a different finish and texture for a more balanced look.

Simple Vignette for our Buffet ~
I kept things very simple on the buffet in our dining room. Since we are still technically in winter, I didn’t want things to feel overly “springy” yet, but I’m also very ready to move past our winter decor. So I went for more neutral items, sticking to groups of 3, for a more everyday look.

I used the sign hanging above our buffet as the focal point, and created 2 vignettes on either side, to act more as bookends. On the left I used a large white farmhouse pitcher, filled with faux green stems I picked up from Michael’s last year, and arranged it with 2 smaller recycled glass bottles, from the same line at HomeGoods as the large one I used on my table. This also helps create a more cohesive look throughout our entire dining rooms decor.

Then, on the opposite side, I allowed our lamp to act as one of the larger pieces, providing a little symmetry to the large farmhouse pitcher on the opposite end, and styled a small faux pot and smaller white farmhouse pitcher in front of it.

I shared the tutorial HERE, for how I painted and lime washed the lamp on our buffet.

I decorated with the same 3 colors throughout our dining room vignettes for a simple, yet cohesive look. Keeping our dining room light and airy, as we wait for spring to arrive ๐

Hi! Love the colors in this room. Good quick ideas. Thanks.
Question: did you do the bat and board? How do you decide height of boards? Do you find it hard to keep the inside corners of each section dirt free? ( I have endless, tidious cleaning to keep my kitchen shaker cabinet corners free of dirt.)
Thank you.
Hi Mona! I eye-balled the height for the board and batten mostly. We have a thermostat on the wall in there, so it needed to be lower than that, but I like it when the board and batten covers the bottom 2/3rds of the wall ๐ There are so many different styles out there, I think a lot of it is personal preference, and based off of how high your ceilings are. The only time I notice more dust in the corners is in the winter because we heat with a wood stove – that is also in the same room. Otherwise I find it minimal, nothing my normal dusting/cleaning doesn’t cover ๐ Hope that helps!
Where can I order the sign? What are the dimensions on your sign?
Beautiful. Gotta have it.
It was a custom sign made by Between You & Me, to celebrate the launch of my book. It’s not available anymore, but let me see if they can still sell it ๐
