Farmhouse Style Wooden Trunk Coffee Table Ideas

We are winding things down in our last 2 weeks of summer. Fall soccer for my son has already begun, and you can smell autumn in the air as it approaches. I was window shopping online the other day, actually looking for some fall decor inspiration, and during my searching I stumbled upon a beautiful wooden trunk and it reminded me of the wooden trunk we have in our living room as a coffee table. And I thought to myself if I didn’t have my current trunk, I would get this one. I know many of you have asked where ours is from, and I hate not having a valid source. So today I’m sharing a variety of farmhouse style wooden trunk  coffee table ideas.

First let me tell give you a little back story on ours, just in case you haven’t heard. My husbands grandfather made it, and it was always something he admired. Shortly after we were married my in-laws were getting ready to move, and during their de-cluttering, my husband got to take the trunk home. We had it at the end of our bed for years, and then when we moved into this house our bedroom was too narrow for it to fit. So we had it in a side room for a few months, and then one day I got the idea to use it as our coffee table. It’s been there ever since, and my husband loves the fact that the trunk his grandfather made is a focal point in our decor. Even though he lets me decorate the house however I like, little wins like incorporating a treasured family heirloom into our space, help make sure he feels just as much apart of our homes decor as I am. Summer Decor, Farmhouse Living Room | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

We use the trunk to store all of our seasonal blankets and a few extra throw pillow covers. Having them right in the living room, make them easy to grab on a chilly morning, or while we are curling up on the couch to watch a movie at night. Since ours was hand made I’ve never been able to give a good source for it. But after stumbling upon one online the other day, I rounded up a few of my favorite ones that closely resemble ours. Farmhouse Style Trunk Coffee Table Ideas | Rooms FOR Rent Blog1. |2. | 3. | 4.

While the majority of these options are all wood like ours. I couldn’t help but throw in one wicker option, because I just love all the texture that wicker adds to a space. It’s another go-to for me in decor choices. While they are all slightly similar, and very close to ours, #3 has more of a vintage feel, while I love all the character #2 has with it’s shutter style sides.

#5 was what caught my eye in the first place. Our trunk is made out of cedar wood, so seeing this cedar lined one and wood trim details, not to mention the beautiful wood patina it has, was a sure winner for me. I also liked the slightly industrial vibe #7 has and the blue-ish gray finish as well. Summer Tour of Homes 2017 | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

I love the warmth our wooden trunk coffee table adds to our living room, and if you are a lover of all things white like I am, incorporating wood tones for warmth and texture is a must.

I have a WWI military trunk that I’ve been using for our coffee table for years and I’m still not tired of it! I picked it up at an estate sale and it has the original leather handles and straps and it’s in amazing condition. It’s also a fun conversation piece 🙂
