I thought it would be fun to take a look back at how much our dining room has changed over the last 3 years. The dining room wasn’t really a major focus at first, other than painting it right away from yellow
to a nice medium grey – Woodsmoke by: Glidden – paired with the bold white trim it was enough to get me by for the time being.
Once we were settled in, and the last box was unpacked, it was time to put my stamp on our first house. So my first project, and one of the very first things I ever blogged about was adding some horizontal stripes in the dining room. I still laugh at the quality of the photos and the post in itself, but it’s great encouragement to see how far I’ve come, and we all had to start somewhere, RIGHT?!!
Oh my word there is so much to point out in the photo above that makes me cringe, but you can even see the tops of the chairs pre-paint job! Then I brought my attention into the dining room for a bit, I believe the next thing I did was get a new lamp for the buffet, and that was all the motivation I needed.
Next up, it was time to bring in some white {that I LOVE}, and some new end chairs for the dining room table.
Things were starting to take shape by this last photo, or at least you can see progress in my executing a game plan. Next up, I painted the playroom door with chalkboard paint, and this the obsession began!
It stayed like this for awhile too, which is almost exactly how we have had it up until now. With the exception of changing up the chalkboard door, one day I got the hair across my butt to just paint underneath the chair rail white, and even though we still don’t have the picture frame molding, the architectural detail it gave the room was just what it needed. You first get a glimpse of it in some holiday posts:

Hi Bre,
New to the blog. Love everything. Can you tell me where the drapes in your dining room come from? Thank you. Amy

What a great transformation! I love that you show how it was done over time, like the rest of us in the ‘real’ world, and can’t afford to do it all at once. I’m currenty in the process if doing my dining/living room too-it all started with changing the chandelier! Can’t wait to see your new table.
