Part of balancing photos in my gallery wall is adding things that aren’t photos. I know it sounds weird at first, but after looking through lots and lots of gallery walls, I noticed a common trend. All of the frames weren’t full of pictures. Some had art, some had prints, a mix of everything. Now don’t get me wrong I love pictures just as much as the next person, and this mama is proud to frame photos of her babies, call me bias all you want, but no mother would deny that. However for my gallery wall I wanted there to be a good mix of things hanging. Today I’m going to show you how made an easy personal printable for my gallery wall.
Mixed in throughout those precious little faces, I printed out the initials for each family member. Instead of just printing out enlarged letters to frame, I wanted it to be a little more solid, but didn’t want to use just plain white printer paper either. I started by picking a font I liked, and deciding if I wanted to use uppercase or lowercase initials. I chose lower case in a simple font already on my computer. No fancy downloading over here 🙂
Next I printed out my initial to see so I could line it up on my book page. I grabbed one of my old books that was close to a 5X7 size, so it would match up with my frames.
Once I had the book page lined up with the letter, I taped it to the opposite side and ran it through the printer again. Fingers crossed my book page wouldn’t get caught and shred, it didn’t and printed out perfectly.
The result, a perfectly printed letter on an old book page. Super simple right?!
Once I had the first one done successfully, I then printed out an initial for the rest of our family members, and put them in frames.
Now I have a unique but personal piece of art, representing each member of our family. It breaks up all the pictures, but is subtle enough it doesn’t take away the attention from our photos either.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Wow, this is a great idea! I put picture frames together on walls and it just ends up being too much and I don’t like it. But I absolutely love the idea of adding different art piece into the frames and also adding multiple elements, my favorite being the license plate. I love how it adds a texture to the wall. Love your designs!
