Happy Friday friends!! Wait? WHAT? Is it really Friday already!! You know for a girl who can’t move around that much these days, this week sure did fly by! We’ve had a pretty exciting week, our new product line launching, and of course joining some of my friends on Monday to bring you our free fall printables! I’m so excited because the fun gets to continue next week! Monday we will be kicking things off with Kelly from Eclectically Vintage sharing our Fall Home Tour 2015, and on Tuesday starts the Art of Home! I’ve shared with you all about this amazing online class that I’ve joined up with 4 other amazing bloggers to share our hearts and homes with all of you, but just in case this is your first time here I will catch you up to speed. First you can check out this post, and this one, to read more of my heart for the course and what it’s all about, but when Jeanne shared her vision with me about this online course where women can come and be inspired and reconnect with their homemaking skills, my heart strings were pulled. I immediately felt like I was meant to be apart of this, there is so much more behind just having a pretty home, but really discovering why it is we nest, and desire a comfortable, relaxing environment for our friends and families. As women we love to nurture and take care of those around us, and I believe our homes can reflect that. I love discovering traditions that were handed down to me from my mother and my grandmother. I have so many wonderful memories of being in my grandmothers kitchen while she baked, and playing with this tiny antique iron that her mother gave her.
The Art of Home is about all of that and so much more. It’s preserving what the generations before us have done, and passing down to our children a heritage not to be forgotten. Life’s simple pleasures that cause us to pause and smile when we reminisce. Today I’m sharing with you some glimpse’s of what I’m sharing in the Art of Home, and I hope you will be inspired to join us!
My grandmothers famous rhubarb cake! It’s been a family favorite for years, the perfect recipe to share. It can be served hot or cold, and my favorite way is with homemade whip cream! Every time I make it I will always think of her, and summers at her house 🙂 Her homemade gingerbread is another must for us! I shared that recipe here, perfect for christmas gingerbread houses.
When we gather around the table, we are choosing to spend time with one another. We are saying that the rest of the world can wait. Who is sitting at our table is more important than finishing that e-mail, catching up on social media, but choosing to connect with those who matter to us most! It goes so much further than what we fill our belly’s with, it’s what fills our souls and connects us together with one another.
When we choose to look past our daily chores as merely stuff on our to do list, and realize that these are ways we can serve our families out of love, we change the atmosphere in our homes! Did you know you have the power to do that?! You have the ability to spread joy and speak life throughout your home, or to remain and grumble and complain over life’s duties. Trust me I’ve been there, many times! But when I choose to change my heart attitude, my reason for completing these mundane tasks, changes and I am filled with joy and love pours out on my family. And then something magical happens! It inspire them to pour out love too!
The Art of Home is about remembering and embracing the generations of women before us. Taking a deeper look into why we create the homes we do. And being inspired to go further into the roles God has called us to be in our families, in our homes, and in our communities! I hope to see you there 😉

It is such a pleasure to see your desire to embrace homemaking as an art. I can truely say I raised my family with this attitude and simple style. We ate from our garden and perserved the abundance of produce. Hospitality is a gift we shared with those around us. Setting a beautiful table is an expression of love. The kitchen is the heart of the home and it is up to Mothers today to make sure this art is not lost. Thank you for filling my heart with hope for future generations!
Blessings,
Cindy
