A very Merry Christmas Eve to each and every one of you!! We are soaking up every bit of Christmas that we can this week, and have had some surprise family guests come to stay with us, which make Christmas traditions even more special. So it’s been a little quiet over here, just because we are soaking in time with family, and I hope you all get a chance to slow down a bit, and rest, and enjoy being with loved ones as we celebrate the holidays! I asked a few of my blogging friends what their favorite Christmas tradition was, to share with all of you, just to enjoy this holiday season! I have loved reading each one of the things they love most about the holidays and think you will too!
First up, Lucy from Craftberry Bush!
“We have Christmas dinner with my entire family on the 24th, and do a little countdown to midnight, that’s when we open our gifts at midnight on the 25th.” ~Lucy
Kristen from Ella Claire says :
“As simple as it sounds, one of my very favorite traditions is driving around looking at Christmas lights. We usually get into our Jammies, drive around and stop for hot chocolate.” ~Kristen
Rachel from Maison de Pax :
“Our favorite tradition is our Advent Calendar Nativity.” ~Rachel
Jen from City Farmhouse :
“We have s holiday tradition centered around making ornaments every year. My mom started it many many years ago when I was little. She would always write her name and the year. So we do the same . It’s nice now because we find them and know they were from her & when . My hope it that years to come my boys use some of them of their own tree years to come. Oh and we also have hot cocoa & cookies outside on the porch after school on the last day of school to celebrate the official beginning of the holiday, that’s just a fun one.” ~Jen
Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies :
“My favorite Christmas tradition is sipping eggnog while decorating the tree & bopping to the Beach Boys Christmas album.” ~Danielle
Jennifer from Town & Country Living:
“My favorite Christmas tradition is reading the story of Christ’s birth from the Bible before opening gifts on Christmas Day. My father started the tradition when I was a child, and we continue it in my home today. I think it’s important to remember the true meaning and spirit of Christmas.” ~Jennifer
Rachel from Shades of Blue Interiors :
“Our favorite tradition for Christmas is how we combine Brazilian and American traditions. On Christmas Eve we have our big huge dinner late at night, then read from the bible, then open aaaaaall the presents under the tree. Everyone goes to bed by midnight though and Christmas morning is only Santa presents and we spend the day eating and chillin like villains!” ~Rachel
Shannon from AKA Design:
“We do carols (either at church or as a family depending on travel and such), eat appetizers, open stockings and one gift (always pjs) on Christmas Eve. Then we get up early Christmas morning to open the rest of the presents. We basically snack (no real breakfast or lunch) and then eat Christmas dinner.” ~Shannon
Jeanne from Jeanne Oliver Designs :
“Over the years we have so many sweet traditions and it is hard to choose just one as our favorite. We start off the holidays with watching Little Women and making caramel corn, ice skating with friends, decorating the tree together and then driving around town looking at the lights, the kids and their cousins have a funny talent show on Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve service, and cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. ” ~Jeanne
Jen from Migonis Home :
“Since 2011 we have been writing our big events from the year on our Christmas tree stump. I’ve been a little more detailed as the years have gone on so it’s fun to look back and see what were big events that year. I display them around the house every year at Christmas.” ~Jen

I love this post and hope to do the same in the upcoming years! What could be more special and personal than to share your most meaning ful traditions. It made these rooms of theirs come alive in a different way for me then just a beautiful picture. I think this has truly changed the way I will be blogging from now on. XOXO!

What a great idea. We don’t do a real tree, but what a special way to remember all the big events. I have never heard of that.

Our Christmas tradition comes from my husband’s family.
On Santa’s return trip back to the North Pole on New Year’s Eve, he leaves one more gift for the children that have been extra good. Even my adult children still celebrate this.
