We all know a great way to welcome guests into our homes for the holiday season is with a welcoming entry way. Whether you have a formal entrance to your home, a large hallway, or simply just a door, I think you will find these steps helpful and practical for any set up. While I love adding seasonal touches throughout my home to make it warm and inviting, it’s important not to overlook the place your guests will see first. Creating a welcoming entryway doesn’t take a lot of time or energy but can make all the difference in the world when it comes to your guests first impression. Today I’m going to share with you my go to tips for creating a welcoming fall entryway.
- CLEAN – Before I start any decorating I give my entryway a good thorough cleaning. I know this is not always the most enjoyable aspect, but sometimes just wiping down the walls and cleaning the floor is all it takes. We spend as much of our summer outside, which means we are tracking in dust and lost of sand from the beach. I wash our front door, sweep the floors, and throw out anything that is worn out.
2. Add Warm Layers – I replaced a worn out welcome mat with a small area rug. It serves as my welcome mat, but because it’s larger than a typical welcome mat it provides lots of warmth underfoot for the cold months ahead. I also brought in a cozy throw blanket and some throw pillows.
I know some of the husbands always ask if this is a practical thing for an entryway, but it really doesn’t take up too much room, and if anything it really warms the space up, and speaks volumes to your guests coming in.
Lastly, adding seasonal touches is a great to make your entryway welcoming for fall. I incorporated pumpkins, faux branches, and a beautiful new autumn wreath from Wayfair.
You can see me putting all these tips into practice in my latest video with Wayfair, HERE. I’d love for you to check it out, and see how this space came together. Also I have some big news I will be back sharing on the blog Monday!! Can’t wait.
