If you caught our bedroom decorated for Christmas earlier this week, than you saw that I gave our room a mini-makeover in the process! Let me just tell you how this mini-makeover process started. I stumbled across this gorgeous headboard. Insert wheels turning! Like I loved this headboard so much, I was dreaming about it. I loved that it had a vintage vibe with the slightly aged wood trim, and I loved the neutral linen upholstery. So much so, a vision was born! And that was the end of that, lol.
Just to refresh your memory, here is what our bedroom looked like before:
In order for the headboard to work, I had to re-arrange our room. Bummer, I know right? Just kidding! I love to re-arrange furniture. In fact when I was in jr. high I used to come home from school and re-arrange my bedroom almost everyday! The possibilities are endless when you have a twin size mattress, and boy was I creative. I basically flipped our entire bedroom around, here it is after :
The small dresser you see on this side, was the nightstand we used on the opposite side of the bed before, so it never really made it into photos. It was a hand-me-down, that I painted years ago, but am thinking of updating the hardware to something with antique brass. Here is a little mood board I drew up for inspiration for our space.
I wanted something neutral, but more on the masculine side, since that’s what I’m drawn too anyways. Plus I like to load on the throw pillows, so a neutral/masculine color scheme keeps things from feeling to fru-fru for the hubby 🙂
Since our bedroom ceilings are very low, a cute chandelier was out of the question, but we still needed substantial lighting. I’ve always liked bigger bed side lamps than what the stores tend to suggest, and these wood based lamps did just that. They are sturdy and solid, and I love the dramatic black shade.
Grounding the space is a new charcoal / navy area rug that you can now find at Painted Fox, HERE. It’s 100% wool, and really anchors the space, while also adding a bit of interest with it’s subtle pattern.
I debated painting the walls a new color, but lets just say with Christmas decorating in full swing I ran out of steam, but I honestly love the color they are, so changing the color wasn’t really a priority. The walls are Hazy Skies by: Benjamin Moore, and are a perfect shade of beige – gray, without feeling too tan.
I’m so happy with the outcome of our mini-makeover. Our room now feels complete. You can catch all the sources in our room HERE, and I’d love to know what you think of the new changes!

Love it! Thanks for the inspiration. I have an old family trunk just like the one in your “before” pic that’s just hanging out in my basement. Now I’m going to clean it up and use it as a nightstand. The little grey dresser is very cute.

Bre, I love your style, and your blog is so beautifully done. And guess what? I love to re-arrange furniture, too! Gets tricky with our slip-covered corner sofa though, but I still do it! I love to mix things up,whether it’s our living room or bedrooms. My friends never know what to exptect when they drop by. And I’ve been known to incorporate some of your style ideas in our place. So, thank you for sharing your creativity. I, for one, appreciate it 🙂
