I know that sometimes creating resolutions for the new year can become a bit daunting or overwhelming, maybe even a tad discouraging. Wondering if there’s even a point to creating these goals, because let’s face it, sometimes we don’t even get to the second goal on our list. If those thoughts come knocking at my door, I like to take a moment and look back at the things I have accomplished. So today I’m joining my friends from the Farmhouse Decorating Series, as we share our favorite projects from 2016, and our top goal for 2017!
As I thought back over the past year, there was one project that stuck out above the rest. Since we bought our house, almost 6 years ago, we put a lot of effort into making it our own – on the inside. In 2016 we turned our efforts to the outdoors and transforming our yard into a place that we loved to spend time in. Here is what it looked like before :
We put the gravel down one year in a small area, and attempted to add decor with some treillis’, but that was about it. We liked using the space, but it certainly didn’t feel welcoming, or appealing to entertain in. So when we got the chance to give it a makeover with our friends at Joss & Main, I couldn’t wait to get started!
We used our freshly renovated patio space all summer long, and enjoyed every moment of it, and can’t wait to get back out there again this spring. It has quickly become my favorite place to entertain in.
I kept things monochromatic, which allowed my farmhouse decor touches shine. I think the only thing I wasn’t used to was how much watering all those outdoor planters need! Here is one last Before & After of the space.
Now for 2017! We have actually started talking about this project. It was one I shared design plans for last year, but we just never got around to it. So this year it’s on the top of our list! We can’t wait to make some cosmetic updates to our downstairs bathroom.
I shared my design plans HERE, and we are hoping to get started sometime in February. It honestly feels like the last project this house needs to feel finished. What a sense of accomplishment that feels to look around our house and have it truly feel like us.
I can’t wait to see what my friends have shared as their top 2106 project, and what they have planned for the new year!
