Hello Friends!! I’m alive!! I still feel like I’m coming down from being on cloud 9 after our Better Homes & Gardens christmas photoshoot. This was the 3rd time we’ve had a magazine come to our house to do a photoshoot, the first time for BH&G, and even though I felt more like having a 3rd child, instead of my first, you know where you are a bit more relaxed, not as nervous as the first time. If the binkie falls on the floor you just pick it up, lick it off, and give it back to your baby, lol! Well I started off that way, and then leading to up to the week before they were supposed to come, it was like a whirlwind hit of realizing a major publication will be in my house, IN MY HOUSE, and every square inch needs to be perfect!
HA, yeah I had one of those meltdowns, and I swear it’s just like preparing to have a baby, you always forget about those labor pains, until you are in LABOR, lol! And this is before they even arrived. Thank goodness once they arrived I was able to take deep breath, relax and enjoy the experience. I love the behind the scenes stuff. I always dream about being a stylist on a major photoshoot, and my only concern is styling spaces to create the perfect shot. Everyone that came for the photoshoot was super sweet, it really was just a dream to be apart of it, and I can’t wait to see how the story looks in this years Christmas Ideas magazine, which will be out later this year. I have to admit though I felt a bit “design” handicapped if you will. Having our Christmas decor up until the first week of February, and wanting everything to be “just right” made it hard to think or do much else. Never mind just keeping up with life’s demands at home. After the dust settled from the photoshoot, I spent a day laying in bed, binge watching this new show on Amazon. I loved it!
Think the Notebook meets the Great Gatsby. Seeing how I felt like I haven’t stopped running since we got home from our family vacation in August, it was a much needed R&R day. Once the Christmas decor was gone, I’ve been bringing in some new pieces and keeping things simple for the new year. I will be sharing more over the next 2 weeks, but I shared a sneak peak on Instagram the other day, and just in case you missed it, you can see it here too!
Antler Prints | Shibori Pillow | Chair | Pickling Jar | Faux Leafy Branches
I’ve also revamped the gallery wall behind our tv. And by revamped I mean completely removed everything, patched the holes, and got all new frames for the space with some gift cards I got at Christmas.
I’ll share more on that next week, but I was finally able to create a monochromatic gallery wall, which is what I was wanting to do this time last year when I refreshed our living room, but just couldn’t find the right frames. I would have shared it with you by now, however we’ve been having a bit of a winter snow storm that just won’t seem to go away! Last week the kids had 1 day of school, ONE day! Along with starting this week with a snow day as we got another 16 inches, on top of the close to 2 ft. we got last week.
I took this just before our most recent storms. Now you can only see the top half of that black urn planter. So with all this cabinet fever we’ve finally started a project I’ve been wanting to tackle since we moved in! We have started demoing our downstairs bathroom! You guys I can hardly believe it.
I’ll be sharing the whole process, but I snapped this quick pic yesterday after the tub came out. My daughter stood in disbelief that we are doing this, she just couldn’t believe it, so I’m excited for her to see the process as well.
It feels so good to be back, and I can’t wait to share more on what we’ve been up to during my little winter break!
Stay in touch!

Can’t wait to see your bathroom remodel. We only have one bathtub/shower & I was told that it would take a week to tear everything down & then put all the new stuff back up. I don’t know about you, but I have to have a shower every night. Don’t know when we will do this. Maybe install an outdoors shower this summer!! (chuckle)
