It’s always fun to look back over the past year. As the new year approaches, and we wind down from the holidays. The last Christmas cookie is digested, and my pants seem to have gotten 2 sizes smaller in ONE week, I look forward to the New Year with great anticipation. With the kids home on from school on Christmas break, and family visiting, we have spent our days soaking in our time together, and it truly has been so much fun. However, I told my husband the other day, that this structure loving person is craving some routine. I never realized how much I crave routine, until it’s gone! With 2018 right around the corner, I always love to look back over the past year. There is something about reviewing the last year, that helps propel us into what’s next. So this is my year in review of 2017.
I kicked of 2017, with a cozy new space for me – the Mom Cave! Even though I tend to play musical chairs with the chairs in our house, and these cozy wingbacks are now in our living room, I still love my Mom Cave space. I shared it a few weeks ago HERE, decorated for Christmas, and it was so refreshing to start of the new year with a fresh space, and one that inspires too!
I used my money from Christmas and refreshed the frames around our tv in the living room! These are still my most favorite frames from Target, found HERE, and I hope to get some more to incorporate into the gallery wall going up our stairs.
I freshened up the dining room with some new accessories, including the round mirror and new lamp from HomeGoods on my buffet. I kicked my winter blues in our Spring Home Tour with lots of fun spring touches around our living room as well.
We finished up our downstairs bathroom makeover. What a project that turned out to be, you can read all about it HERE in case you missed it, but I’m so glad we pulled the trigger and finally decided to update this room, and give it the dramatic transformation.
May finally arrived, and with it some warm fresh air. I created this beautiful Mothers Day tablescape, and also shared how my thoughts on the nastiest 4-letter “F” word – HERE.
Summer – oh how I miss how lush and green everything was. Especially in the midst of our bitter cold week with temps in the single digits right now. The snow is so pretty covering everything in white, but nothing is a more welcome sight than when summer comes into full bloom. I have plans to renovate our farmers porch this spring, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
We did a mini laundry room refresh. Since our washer & dryer are only on a wall in my office, they don’t have their own “room”, it wasn’t a full laundry room makeover, but re-doing the wall they were on, and organizing the space made a huge impact in this room.
I shared the rest of my office space on the blog, after doing a fun refresh and incorporating some new pieces from Minted. Looking over this past year, it feels like just about every space in our home got a tiny little refresh in one way or another. At the time it really doesn’t feel like much, but looking back over the year, you really begin to have a sense of accomplishment.
Including a BIG makeover in our sons room! We emptied out his entire room and started from scratch, by installing floor to ceiling board and batten, and bringing in some pieces that would last him through the next couple of years as he grows into his teenage years.
Fall arrived, and just like that the year was winding down. It feels inevitable here once fall begins, that the year is coming to an end. With cooler temps and changing leaves, we know that snow is coming just around the corner. And with that the holidays begin, as we finish out the year in a great celebration!
From Thanksgiving to Christmas, a month that can sometimes feel like a blur, is spent with joyous occasions, lots of festivities, and making memories with our kids.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my year in review, and I pray that however this last year has been, that the future is bright and full of promise!
Next week I’ll be sharing my top posts from the year based off of page views. The means the posts that you all liked the most, and I have to be honest I was surprised by the post that ranked in at #1. Until then, I hope you have a wonderful New Year, and I will see you in 2018!
