I am SO excited to share our new barn door we installed in our kitchen with you today! It’s actually been something I’ve wanted to do for years, but you know how those things go that aren’t necessarily on the top burner, yeah they get pushed aside, and pushed aside. Well not anymore thanks to my friends at Artisan Hardware. I’ve teamed up with them to show you their beautiful barn doors. Honestly what caught my eye with them was their gorgeous hardware. It’s perfect farmhouse look, crafted right here in US, and honestly it was the attention to detail. If you know me at all by now, you know I’m all about the details. And I think you will see what I mean.
When you first walk into our kitchen, the bench where we keep our shoes stored is to the left, the island is to the right, and straight ahead used to be what I called the “wall of doors”. Well not anymore. Taking center stage is this beautiful new barn door from Artisan Hardware.
I love the character it adds to our kitchen. Honestly it feels like it should have been here the whole time. It blends beautifully with the charm of our 1846 farmhouse.
With Artisan I was able to choose the style of door, and I could match it with any style of hardware. They have such a great selection. I opted for the classic Z-barn door style, and you can choose the finish too. I went with a painted door in their light gray which is called “Thundercloud Gray”.
For the hardware I had such a hard time deciding, because there are so many beautiful choices. I ended up going with a clean lined choice, in a modern brass finish, found HERE.
The barn door leads to the basement, which is right next to our plate rack wall, which falls right in between our downstairs bathroom and basement door.
I feel like it was the missing piece to truly make our kitchen feel like a farmhouse kitchen!
Even though our house is old, over the past 7 years we’ve been slowly adding character back to places where it either got covered up or removed over the years.
One of the biggest challenges was adding elements that felt original to house, but had some newer modern conveniences. We have one more thing to do in here, which we are currently working on, and then I will do a full reveal of before and after to show you just how far we’ve come!
Until then, you can see some of the original photos of what our kitchen looked like when we first moved in 7 years ago!
Stay in touch!
