Hello Friends!!
I am so excited to be sharing our newest outdoor space with you today! In case you missed it, I shared our outdoor patio area HERE last week. If you’ve been following along on the blog, then you know earlier this spring we rented a bobcat and expanded the area around our barn. Well I’ve been busy working back there, believe me there is still more I can’t wait to do, but let me show you our new outdoor dining space!
Before, we had a row of white trellis’ right behind our outdoor sofa, because that’s where our patio ended. After we expanded behind it, we put down crushed stone, and it opened up a whole new area.
We moved our patio dining set back there, and honestly it feels like it was supposed to be there all along.
You may recognize the chairs from around my dining room table inside, but once the summer months hit, I bring them outside so we can enjoy lots of meals out here.
The table was a DIY my husband made a few years ago. I threw some gray stain on it, but I think this summer I’m going to sand it and give it a fresh coat of stain, since I never put a finish it before. Then I will seal it with some outdoor poly to help it stand up to the weather a bit more.
To keep things simple, I lined pots filled with herbs done the center, and placed a few citronella candles around them.
I brought the bench over from our farmers porch, to use as additional seating around the table.
I mentioned in my post where we rented the bobcat, that once the stone was in place, I had plans to add some landscaping to the borders. I shared a little bit about this in my stories, and plan to share more tomorrow here on the blog.
I used the brick from the chimney we tore down when we remodeled our bathroom, as a border around the whole patio area. It created the perfect separation between the stone and the bark mulch I used around the plants.
I love how this area is turning out. Surrounded by trees, it feels like a little retreat away from the rest of the world.
And below you can see a glimpse of what it looks like from the rest of our outdoor patio space.
I’m so excited to have some wonderful blogging friends team up with me today and share their outdoor entertaining areas as well. I can’t wait to see what they have done with their spaces, I get so much inspiration from these ladies. Honestly, they were the first ones that totally inspired my to even make an effort with our outdoor spaces, and I am so glad I did, because it truly has transformed the way we enjoy outside over the past couple of years.

Now you can add “exterior decorator” to your list of accomplishments!
That is a beautiful space. I like how the area is right next to your stone wall and woods too…beautiful New England.
Hope you have many happy times out there!

OHH thank you Christine!!! That is such a compliment!!! I think I trick myself sometimes into thinking I’m not “good enough” because I never went to school for something, or worked under somebody else. We love this outdoor space so much! And plan to be out here all summer long 😉
