Happy 4th Friends!!! I realize it was yesterday, but I always get thrown off when we have a holiday in the middle of the week. When Wednesday feels like a Saturday, it messes me up completely! Especially since we have family staying with us this week and everybody is on vacation! I wasn’t planning on sharing anything in particular for the 4th, because we have just been soaking up time with family, and enjoying our little holiday. I hope you have been as well, but I have a fun announcement I can’t wait to share, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite patriotic outdoor decor from around our house. And be sure to stay ’til the end and catch my announcement!
Nothing feels more like being in the heart of summer than celebrating the fourth of July! We were sitting on a back porch yesterday, at a 4th of July BBQ, and I happened to catch a glimpse of a truck driving by with a large American flag mounted to the back. It felt so patriotic and instantly I felt transported back to a simpler time.
It doesn’t take too much to add a patriotic feel here or there. I picked up these smaller American flags for $1 a piece, and love tucking them in to planters, or around our outdoor spaces. I’ve even used them as decor around a classic summer dessert (seen below).
In years past I’ve hung a wooden american flag I made on our porch as well, and loved the statement it made when pulling up to our house.
I never really considered myself to really decorate for summer holidays, but I find I’m usually hanging my flags by memorial day, and keeping them out until Labor Day.
As a kid I always used to love going to the beach in the summer and all the coastal towns would put out their American flags. Every store front and shop had one, and the lined the streets. Maybe that’s the nostalgic feeling I get when I see an American flag in the summer.
I included links to the full blog posts that these images were from in case you wanted more details! But first, my fun announcement!
If you’ve been reading my blog for a few years, you may remember I started a series called “Farmhouse Style Home Tours” and was featuring other blog and IG accounts I loved, that totally had that Farmhouse feel! Well I’m excited to announce I’m starting the series back up! It’s fun to have a little more inspiration in the summer months, and I always love sharing other homes that inspire me! We will kick things off with our first Farmhouse Tour tomorrow, and every Friday after that through the summer! I’m so excited and can’t wait to share them with you. I think you will be just as smitten as I am! So be sure to come back and visit tomorrow for the first Farmhouse Style Home Tour in 2018!
Stay in touch!

Love your patriotic porch. Never really decorate for the 4th other then hanging out our flag and making a red, white and blue flower arrangement for the house. Maybe I will be more inspired next year but we have been having a terrible heatwave here and more time inside enjoying the a.c. than out on the porch. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Time for me to do some beachy decor in my house and then head to the beach next month for the real thing.
