A few months ago I had a tiny dream come to life. I’ve hinted about a “secret” project I’ve been working on, and while I won’t be able to reveal that secret until early next year, I can share a part of this tiny dream come true photo shoot I did. I got to set up and photograph a picnic tablescape in an apple orchard right at the peak of when all the apple blossoms where in full bloom. It was magical, and a dream setting for sure. I had my favorite florist friend working on location with me that day, we had a boat load of accessories for the shoot, that once the main shoot was done, we set things up bit differently, swapped out some pieces, adding in a pop of red, and viola had a completely different feel and vibe. I joked that it made me feel like I was in the countryside of France, and it was so much fun to set up and “play”, I wanted to share the pictures with you from this magical day! I hope you enjoy our picnic in and apple orchard scene.
To keep things easy to transport, we used a simple folding table, and disguised it by layering table cloths over it.
Vintage style logos on bottled water, and french style doughnuts help set the scene for this afternoon picnic in the sun.
We played with the color red but incorporating it in food, and napkins, and even the logo on the bottled water. Vintage red plates helped add some character to the otherwise simple tablescape.
A drink station was set up nearby using crates stacked on top of one another, that we had used to carry items in.
We had such a great time working on this project together, and bringing to life this picnic in an apple orchard idea. It brought me right back to my 6th birthday, and the backyard tea party my mother had planned, where we all ate cookies and lemonade in our Sunday dresses with tiny little gloves, and hats on under the trees in the shade.
