Hello Friends!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Well this week kicks off the holiday decorating madness. HA HA! But before we totally jump into full swing Christmas, I wanted you to know, that while blogging has me decorating for the holidays a little bit earlier than I normally would, it is solely for the purpose to provide inspiration. And I will tell you this, I do find joy in it, and so does my family. I think if I resented decorating early, I wouldn’t be so cheerful doing it, and you would totally be able to tell in how my message is coming across. But honestly by the time we get to Halloween I am totally craving all things Christmas, my kids are greatly anticipating it, and blogging just gives me all the excuse I need to bust out those decorations a little early.
So to help us all ease into the holiday spirit, I created this whimsical Asymmetrical Holiday Wreath last week, that honestly can be used all winter long. I will be sharing the tutorial for it, here on the blog tomorrow, but thought you might like to see some pretty pictures of it first.
On the backside of our barn we have a set of double doors, that are honestly just used to get our ride on lawn mower in and out of the shed. When my husband saw this, he said “Wow, you sure made that little area look nice!”. I smiled but it got me thinking – when I decorate for Christmas, it isn’t about going all out with crazy, over the top decorations.
It’s about sprinkling a little bit of holiday cheer throughout our most commonly used areas. Sure that includes the main spaces throughout the inside of our home, but do you ever stumble across an area and see an unexpected holiday touch? It stops you for a moment, brings a smile to your face, and to me that is what it means to decorate for the holidays and spread holiday cheer.
So while I could have left this little are blank, I decided to sprinkle it with some holiday cheer, and I have to say – this simple festive touch brings a smile to both of our faces now when we walk out there.
I can’t wait to share just how easy it was to make this wreath with all of you tomorrow!! I got the grapevine wreath for 50% off at hobby lobby, and then picked up a variety of fresh winter greens from a local nursery. They aren’t always out this early in the season, but I find the closer we get to thanksgiving you can find them at most local greenhouses, and of course there are so many great faux picks to choose from as well!
I finished off the area with an antique wooden sled, and a HomeGoods basket filled with a faux mini tree 🙂 Honestly I love the look so much, I might need to go buy a few more of the baskets from HomeGoods to use on our farmers porch this winter!
And I know most people wait until after Thanksgiving to go full blown Christmas, I hope that seeing my Christmas decor pop up over the next couple of weeks will help you start thinking of ways to decorate for Christmas this year, and leave you feeling inspired!

Does the basket with the little tree stay out in the elements of us it under shelter where you have it? Looks great and I have a similar one but wondered about rain and snow ruining it.

It is under the roofline, which is hard to tell in the photos, but I’m worried about it weathering in the snow, so I might leave it out until the first snow flurries arrive – just in case 🙂
