Christmas Village Mantel

11/20/2018 By Bre

20 Nov

I mentioned in yesterdays post that Christmas decorating is in full swing around here! If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have caught my stories the other week about my tiny obsession with small white houses to decorate with for Christmas. Ummm I’m not sure where it came from, but I do know this obsession intensified last year, and the moment these cute little houses hit the shelves this year I have been scooping them up. So today I’m sharing how I decorated our “mantel” (a.k.a. the buffet in my dining room) into a tiny Christmas village.

And if Christmas village’s aren’t your thing (trust my I didn’t even know they were my “thing” until I saw it),ย I’m joined by a group of my talented blogging friends who are also sharing their holiday mantel and vignettes ideas with you as well!

As I mentioned I started picking up these tiny houses a few at a time last year, I did not get these all at once. But I did get them all from Target, lol!

This year Target added these cute galvanized metal houses, and since the white ones can sometimes be hard to find, I decided to mix mine, because not all houses are identical in every neighborhood ๐Ÿ™‚

I spread the houses along the entire length of buffet, on top of a white fluffy blanket of faux snow. I filled in the gaps in the back with some tall bottle brush trees, and then used smaller bottle brush trees to fill in around the houses.

To finish things off I added some tiny ornaments to add a little sparkle to the scene.

Underneath the snow batting I stacked some books on the back corners, to give the illusion of snow covered hills through the tiny village.

Do you want to know the best part?! They light up!! Half of them came with battery operated tea lights in them already, while the others have openings in the back that you can place little tea lights in. Of course you know I had to turn on all the lights and take some pictures too ๐Ÿ™‚Christmas Village Vignette | Rooms FOR Rent Blog

Your little houses are so pretty all a glow. The dark with the white seems to make all of them stand out more against the snow. very pretty.
