Hello Friends!! Thank you SO much for all of your kind remarks about the area in front of our barn I shared yesterday!! Sometimes you don’t really need a lot of space, it’s what you do with the space you have, and that little area in front of our barn decorated for fall really feels like I’m making the most of it! I’m continuing with sharing more of our outdoor spaces today with our farmers porch!
Come and take a look ~
Our farmers porch runs along on side of our home. It’s welcomes you as you pull in the driveway, and leads right into our kitchen entrance. It’s our favorite place to begin and end each day. As as the cooler temps come in, we are trying to soak up every last moment we can out here, until spring welcomes us back to our favorite porch sitting space.
Honestly, since we began to really utilize this space 5 years ago, it was just a place we would walk past coming and going. But since we really started putting an effort in to making it feel cozy, and adding comfortable places to sit and relax, now we find ourselves wanting to linger as long as we can.
Now that we’ve had a porch, it’s on the top of our list for things we always want our home to have!
Over the summer I picked up a new set of rocking chairs (found HERE). While I like the look of the traditional rocking chairs we had, they just didn’t end up being that comfortable. So I went for something with cushions that was a little bit wider.
I’m still playing around with staining them so their teak finish isn’t quite as orange. I want them to have a more weathered finish like our bench.
I love the warmth this new basket hanging, in lieu of a wreath, adds to our porch! It’s the largest size of a set of 3 found at Purple Rose Home, which also happens to be where my BOOK SIGNING will be for anyone local to the New England area. You can get all the details for that HERE.
If you caught my post yesterday, then you know I’m all about these darker colors for plants for fall this year. I typically always go for ornamental grasses and a variety of cabbage or flowering kale.
But this year, I added a few different varieties of coral bells, found at my local home depot. I will be sharing more gardening tips later this week on these beautiful plants, but I love the dark plum shade they have, and add such a nice contrast to the fall foliage on our porch. Especially when placed next to that fun succulent in mint green, I also snagged while I was Home Depot recently.
They come in a variety of colors, and I love how they pair with my blue pumpkins as well!
