Hello Friends!! Thank you so much for all of your kind words about my fall decorating this year! I really wanted things to feel simple. Relaxed. And it definitely feels that way in our home right now. I mentioned in my fall home tour post that one of the easy switches I make is swapping out artwork for that new season, in this case fall. So today I’m showing you how I easily swap out my artwork.
The wall in our living room where our two chairs sit beneath two windows, is my go-to wall for swapping out artwork seasonally. I have two frames hanging in that tiny wall space between the two chairs, and if you caught my stories on IG last week that you know just how many nail holes are behind whatever happens to be currently hanging.
Every time I am swapping things over for a new season, I play musical chairs with the frames I have around our house. Since I’ve been doing this for the last few years, I have it down to a science on exactly what frames will fit and look best stacked on top of one another.
This past summer I had this beautiful navy seaweed print from vol. 25, and a blue fern print from HomeGoods hung above it. I love brining in pops of navy blue for summer, but as fall approached I new I wanted something more subtle.
I kept the bottom frame holding the seaweed print where it was, and decided to hang the exact matching frame on top. I picked up these frames at HomeGoods back in the beginning of the year when they restock all the stores after the holidays. I find it’s the best time to stock up on some new frames.
Each frame is a 16×20 matted for an 8×10 picture. I love using two frames hung one on top of the other because I feel like it lengthens the overall height of the wall, and mimics the windows on either side.
I was really wanting to incorporated muted green tones for fall this year, and was loving the look of oak leaves, so to Etsy I went to find the perfect print. I found this set of 4, and printed out 2 of them for the frames in this space.
They are an instant download, and just under $12 for all four, which is a nice inexpensive way to change up your decor seasonally. I keep card stock or watercolor paper on hand, and use my paper cutter to cut it down so it will fit in my printer. You could use regular printer paper, but I find the color doesn’t bleed through on the heavier paper, making your print look more professional.
Once printed I taped it in my frames, and hung them back up. I keep the other prints in the same frame, and just move them to the back, so the right print is displayed for that season. Not only does this keep my other prints in good condition, it makes it super easy to swap out my artwork, for a quick change up!
