Hello Friends! Today I’m sharing an easy floral arrangement tutorial just in time for Christmas. Trust me when I say this is so simple, and so easy to make, but makes a huge impact in any room you place it. I’ll show you how I made this beautiful floral arrangement, seen on my coffee table, in this step by step easy guide!
Let’s get started ~
There’s nothing I love more than a large vase of fresh flowers on the coffee table in our living room! It just makes me so happy, and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized it doesn’t matter what season it is, I can fill a large vase with whatever seasonal greens I like and it will still make me just as happy.
You’ll Need :
For this arrangement I used a variety of Cedar, Eucalyptus, Pepperberry, and Huck branches.
- Large vase
- Garden Sheers or clippers
- A variety of winter greens, 3 – 5 is best.
Step 1 : Create a base layer using Cedar branches.
I like to start with my cedar branches first. Since I want my floral arrangement to feel more “wintery”, I make sure that I use mostly cedar to create a nice foundation of winter greens.
Step 2 : Add Seeded Eucalyptus
Next I added in my seeded eucalyptus. I began by clipping branches, and placing them on one side, and worked my way around counter clockwise. This created a nice 2nd tier on top of my cedar foundation.
Step 3 : Add a pop of red.
Next, it was time to add my pop of red. Since I wanted to incorporate more of a subtle pop of red for Christmas this year, one of the ways I accomplished that look was by adding some small red berry clusters to the floral arrangement on my coffee table. Pepperberry is a slightly smaller berry branch, and can be found at WholeFoods around this time of year. You may even be able to find it at your local nursery, but WholeFoods has been more of a consistent source for me.
Step 4 : Add filler.
I finished things off by adding a few darker green branches, called Huck. I grabbed these out of the “filler” section, because I liked the way they stood more up right, while the rest of my arrangement has greens that cascade down the vase. This also helped my arrangement to feel more full one the top, instead of leaving me with an empty whole in the middle of my arrangement.
When choosing your flowers, I always try to make sure I have a few different stem types. Meaning some are more sturdier – great for standing up in the middle, and filling the center of my arrangement. While others might be a bit more delicate, and hang nicely out of the vase adding a waterfall affect.
I placed my floral arrangement on top of some coffee table books, and nestled in a few seasonal decor items around it. A large mercury glass ornament, a holiday scented candle, a few ornaments, and this sweet little porcelain deer that was a hand-me down from my mom’s Christmas decorations.
I used a large round tray to keep all my items corralled nicely, and layered in a faux fur tree skirt underneath for some added cozy texture. I love how all the winter greens in my arrangement adds a nice festive pop for the holidays, without competing with our Christmas tree.

I find it at Trader Joe’s, but Whole Foods carries it as well!

Your winter arrangement is so natural and reflects the season. Definitely plan a visit to Trader Joe’s to get some seeded eucalyptus and rusk if they have it. I will use cedar, pine and holly from my yard and maybe add a little fresh magnolia. Now I need to decide on a container.Hopefully it will turn out as beautiful as yours. Have a wonderful holiday.
