Hello Friends!! Today I’m sharing how I decorated our open shelves in the kitchen! Every year when it’s time to pull the Christmas decor out, I head straight to these shelves in our kitchen. They are my most favorite area to decorate for Christmas in our kitchen, if not our entire house! The past few years I’ve kept things pretty consistent in how I’ve decorated them, each year slightly bette than the one before. However this year I was craving a little change. Like the rest of our Christmas decor this year, I’ve added my new favorite Christmas decor staple to our shelves, and while some things still remain, like boughs of greenery and bottle brush trees, I changed things up ever so slightly this year, and I love how fresh it feels!
Come and take a look ~
The first thing I always add to my open shelves, is greenery! It’s the one time of the year were I feel I have the excuse of the holidays to add a little pizazz, and I love the added embellishment in our kitchen!
I layer in fresh cedar, with a little bay leaf, and some real eucalyptus. And then for an added touch, I topped off the greenery with my new favorite this year – faux white eucalyptus! I shared more about it HERE, just in case you missed it, and have been using it all throughout our Christmas decor around the house this year!
I swapped out the artwork in the middle shelf for this Lindsay Letters canvas art instead. Last year I had hung it on the plate rack wall in our kitchen, but this year I loved hanging it here so it could be the focal point for our Christmas shelves.
You can find the artwork HERE.
Once my greenery and artwork were in place, it was time to add some bottle brush trees. Last year I did a combination of houses and bottle brush trees, but this year I decided to do mainly bottle brush trees in different shades of white and green.
All of my bottle brush trees have been collected over the years, but I did find this set of white bottle brush trees, that comes in different heights, available at Walmart HERE.
Lastly, I filled my batter bowl on the bottom shelf with shiny ornaments. I started doing this a few years ago, and I love the added festive touch it adds. Just a subtle reminder that it’s Christmas, once that makes me willing to give up using my batter bowl for the month of December while they are out 🙂
