Hello Friends!! What a week it has been! We have buckled down on some of our first projects we wanted to tackle on the inside of our home, before we unpack decor and hang pictures on the wall, and per usual they have turned out to be a bit more in depth than we anticipated, lol. But that’s how it goes with home projects, so while we work on a few things on the inside, I wanted to show you more of the exterior of our new home.
If you caught our latest YouTube episode, “New Home Tour”, then you got to see just how amazing the exterior of our new home is. My husband and I would drive by this house all the time, and just admire the rolling hills, the fields covered with wild flowers, and the orchard in the back.
We do have plans to paint the house, and I’ll share my outdoor inspiration for it soon! But for now we are just thrilled to be here, and thankful that the exterior is in such good shape given the age of the home.
In my previous blog post I shared some of the facts on our home, but in case you missed it – I’ll recap them here for you. Our home was built in 1775, and is a quintessential New England colonial, with a 3-story barn, and historical stone wall that surrounds our entire property. It sits on 25 acres, with fields, an orchard, plenty of grass to mow, and lots of woods with trails to take walks, explore, and our very own pond at the back of our property (this was the selling point for our kids)!
As you pull in the driveway, you are greeted by a cute little farmers porch to the left of the house. We use this as our main entry, and this door leads you right into our mudroom.
To the left of the driveway sits the barn. The barn is mostly all open inside, with a loft on each side. There is also access underneath the barn in the back to the left, and you could fit a small tractor or ride on lawn mower and drive straight through.
We plan on painting the barn as well, and I can’t wait to dress her up with some bigger exterior barn lights. Just inside the barn on the left was already set up to be a workshop area. A space my husband is thrilled to have – no more building furniture in the basement 🙂
On this side of the house, the bottom windows on the right are in the dining room, and you can see there is a screened in porch off the back. We have lots of plans for the landscaping as much of it is very overgrown, and grown past the hedge lines. We can’t wait to give it some love, and have it reflect more of our style.
Off the screened in porch area in the back, there is an attached pergola, and then a very overgrown flower garden. We have plans to give the screened in porch and deck are some love. And then plan to convert the flower garden area into our outdoor fire pit space. I’ll share plans with all of those details soon too!
Standing in this same spot, if you turn around you will see two large garden beds, and the orchard just behind it. We have a variety of apple and pear trees.
One of the projects I’ve been working on (with the help of my sister), is weeding the first garden bed you see in the photo above. We are just about done with the weeding process, but there is still so much prep to do in this garden bed before the actual gardening can start.
Below is the view when you are in the orchard looking at the back of the house.
Just like we have plans for the exterior of the house and barn, we have lots of plans for the landscape around the property. But if I’m being completely honest, we are just so thrilled to be here and to have such an amazing property to take care of. We both recognize that landscaping takes time, so while we are excited to get started, we are also taking it one step at a time.

The memories you can make here are so exciting in this beautiful 25 acres. I love the yard, orchard and pond, so much to work with and enjoy. My parents had a big place like this, and as we grew and had families of our own we would spend holidays at that house, about 20-25 of us would gather and enjoy, now I have lots of memories and I know you will too.
