Hello Friends!
Happy Fall! Now that we are officially in fall, and our temps here in New England are starting to feel like fall I feel like I can say that fully with all the excitement of being in a new season! I have to be honest though, my decorating for fall has been very slow going this year. I don’t know if it’s just because I am choosing to intentionally slow down and enjoy all the season has to offer – including the pumpkin spice chocolate covered coffee beans from Trader Joes – YUM! I pulled out my fall decor bin 2 weeks ago, but have yet to finish, or dare I say really pull any of the decor out, LOL! So in an effort to put a little fire under my butt and finish my fall decorating, today I’m sharing a simple fall vignette I assembled, using some minimal decor – and mostly just the power pumpkins.
Come and see ~
Since we moved the new hutch into the dining room, our previous dresser turned buffet moved over to a different side wall in our dining room. I realize that I owe you a post on the progress taking place in our dining room, so you can see the new layout – I promise it’s coming!
In the meantime, I created this simple fall vignette on this dresser in our dining room, and I just love the fall vibe it adds to the whole room.
I started off this vignette by hanging this wreath I recently made. If you caught my FaceBook LIVE last week then you got to see me make this wreath in real time! Along with making floral arrangements, creating wreaths is another form of art for me where I get to express my creative gifts in making something with my hands that I just absolutely love.
First, I hung the wreath centered above the dresser. This creates a focal point for my entire vignette. Then, on the dresser below on both sides of the wreath I placed a few pumpkins – in different sizes, and some brass candlesticks.
When creating the smaller vignettes on either side of your focal point don’t stress over them matching perfectly, but rather focus on two things – height and size. Using pumpkins in different sizes helps give my vignette some depth by being able to layer the smaller pumpkins in around the larger ones.
The brass candlesticks add height to my vignette, making sure that things don’t fall flat visually. If everything is the same height, then nothing stands out. Varying heights keeps the eye moving, so make sure you add in some height!
I love how quickly adding a pumpkin into to any spot around your house instantly makes it feel like fall! Placing a single pumpkin on a console table, or side table, on a stack of books, is sometimes all the fall decor you need. But you know what else I love to decorate with in the fall – CANDLES!! There is something that just feels so cozy the moment you light candles, especially as the temperatures start to dip into chilly days and cool evenings.
Hopefully now you are feeling inspired to do a little fall decorating around your own home, or finish if you are like me, and have only half started. I know I’m feeling inspired to get the rest of our home decorated for fall and I can’t wait to show you more!

Bre – LOVE the wreath! Also, love the entire vignette. Would you mind sharing where you found that adorable little brass bird? It looks like a pheasant. It reminds me of my mom who used to hunt pheasants and passed away several years ago… I miss her.
God bless you and thank you for always giving your time and sharing your creativity.

Thank you so much Julie!! I actually got the little brass bird from Target a few years ago. I have been keeping my eyes peeled, because I would love to get a few more myself ๐
