Hello Friends!
There’s a new piece of furniture in our house! One of the things I was most excited about when we moved was being able to have the wall space for bigger pieces of furniture. As much as I loved our old home, and all the windows, there really wasn’t any wall space large enough to hold bigger pieces of furniture. Without completely blocking windows or doorways. I’ve always dreamed of having a farmhouse hutch in our dining room. One big enough to house my inherited china set, and my grandma’s silver, so I no longer have to keep them in boxes in the basement. I can’t wait for you to see our new hutch for the dining room!
Come and check it out ~
I actually found this hutch on Facebook Marketplace! Can you believe it?! If you follow me on Instagram you now it didn’t always look like this though :p This was definitely a project makeover piece when I first laid eyes on it.
Here is the Before ~
But I loved the shape of it, and the size. The clean lines, and the overall general style of the piece, I knew I could refinish it into a piece that would work for us.
I’ll be sharing the ENTIRE tutorial for how I refinished this piece next week. We even filmed the process so I can show you the step-by-step tutorial on YouTube as well, so hang tight those details are coming soon!
In the meantime, I set up a few of my white cake stands on the open shelves part, and also brought out some of farmhouse pitchers that I used to display on the open shelves in our previous kitchen. I’m still not 100% sure on the styling, but it felt so good to unpack some of my favorite kitchen decor items, and putting them out helped our new dining room space start to feel a little bit more like us too.
I utilized the smaller drawers on the top to hold all my taper candles, and smaller votive candles. Then the drawers on the bottom to hold some of my extra silverware sets and linen napkins. It feels so great to have my go-to tablescape items on hand, and organized so I can grab things easily. No more digging through boxes downstairs.
While this isn’t the forever hutch I want, this definitely helps us get by in the meantime, and helps our new dining room start to take shape.
With the hutch in place we were finally able to get the dining room table moved into position, and removed the chandelier from it’s existing place in front of the fireplace. I’ll share more on that whole switcheroo, and how we are transforming this new dining room space into our own as well. But for now once last look at our new hutch before I decorate it for fall.

Hi Bre!! That is a gorgeous piece!! You did an amazing job on it. If that isn’t your forever piece, I would like to know what it would look like because I’m in love with this one. I bet it was like Christmas getting to unpack your things. Unpacking is so much more fun than packing.
Bre says
Ohh Thank you Cheryl! Trust me I do love it, that wall that we have it on in our dining room could actually afford a longer hutch than this one – if you can believe that. And I’m wanting one that has cabinet doors on the bottom with shelves, and then glass doors on the top with shelves, because believe it or not I still need more storage lol. The drawers are great in this piece, but they aren’t big enough that I could put any of my china set in without getting scratched from sliding around. So that is the goal, I do have my forever hutch picked out, but $$$ 😛
