Hello Friends!! Well I’d like to say I’ve finished decorating for fall already. I’m close, almost done, I just have a few small areas to wrap up. But it’s got me thinking, unlike decorating for the holidays, fall for me is really about celebrating the season changing. It’s not that I need more, or to go all out in my decor, but rather just a few simple changes. So in case you need some encouragement and just a little inspiration, I’ve rounded up a few simple fall decorating ideas to share today.
Here we go~
Swap out Artwork
I love swapping out my artwork to resemble the seasonal changes taking place outside. It’s so simple to do. I use the same frames and just order new prints, or digital downloads and print them myself on card stock. You can read more about that HERE.
Add Cozy Texture
Along with swapping out my artwork, another go too of mine is swapping out my throw pillow covers. Give me all the cozy texture! Soft knit throw pillows, and chunky knit throw blankets are just what I’m longing for to curl up with as the cooler temperatures move in.
Add Foliage
Sometimes all you need is a few clippings of branches or weeds brought in from outside to set the mood. And yes I said weeds! I love grabbing my clippers and heading outside (or pulling over on the side of the road if I’m being honest), and clipping a few branches to bring inside. I know not everyone has foliage like New England, but I don’t think that matters. I think clipping what you love that’s local to you area is the best way to decorate for fall.
Fill a bowl, tray or crate with Pumpkins
It doesn’t matter if they are real or faux, but I love to fill bowls, or trays, and even crates with pumpkins this time of year. You can place them on your coffee table, or dining room table, or even on a book shelf. The best part is, they are easy to remove when you need the space for family game night, or date night in at the coffee table like we do 🙂
Hang a Fall Wreath
Sometimes all I need to get in the mood to decorate for fall is doing a fall craft. It’s a simple change of working with fall colors and textures that has me embracing all the changes that come with the season. I love the simple touch of adding a fall wreath to your front door, or in this case a hanging container filled with faux stems in fall colors. It’s a quick swap and all of a sudden your front door is ready to welcome in fall.

However you decorate for fall I hope that it brings you joy! Because that’s all the matters when it comes to how we decorate our homes. Don’t get caught up in what everybody else is doing, or if you think it’s right. If you love it, and it puts a smile on your face, than you are doing it right 😉
