Hello Friends!!
Today I’m teaming up with some blogging friends to share a Christmas Home Tour. I pulled out my favorite pieces from years past. Sometimes I feel like decorating for Christmas can feel like seeing an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time. It was so fun to open up my bins this year, and pull out my favorites. For this years Christmas decor I stuck with mostly green and white, and some earthy tones. I love how this simple color scheme really allows the greenery to pop I’ve sprinkled throughout our home, and today I’m sharing our Living Room decorated for Christmas.
Come on In ~
If you are continuing on in the Seasonal Simplicity Holiday Home Tour blog hop series, than you have just visited House by Hoff. I just love Aprils black and gold touches this year. You can see the entire Holiday Home Tour lineup at the bottom of this post.
Of course, it only felt right to show you first a few of the festive touches I added to our mudroom. When you first walk into our home you are greeted by some festive winter greens, and seasonal touches. I layered one of my favorite past holiday wall hangings from Vol. 25 (similar one found HERE) with a fuzzy felt advent calendar I picked up from Target last year. They have THIS similar one I saw this year ๐
Once you walk in through our entryway, just past the stairs and to the left, you enter the living room. Our living room is sort of an “L” shape, so I placed our Christmas tree so that no matter where you were in the living room you could see it. I can even see it when I’m standing at the kitchen sink!
As you walk into our living room, it opens up more to the left, where our tv and furniture are.
Since hanging our new curtains, from Wovn Home, I feel our living room is almost complete. I’m working on a grouping of landscape art, to create a gallery wall to the left of the sofa, and with the addition of a new antique side table found on FB marketplace, and our new coffee table (we built last weekend), our living room is starting to feel complete ๐
I kept the Christmas decor simple in our living room. A few table top trees grouped together, and placed around the our living room on different surfaces. Ornaments nestled in a bowl with some greenery. I felt like keeping things simple, really allows the Christmas decor I did use to stand out.
One our coffee table, I used an antique metal tray to style a few key pieces. Some faux greens, a winter candle, a strand of beaded garland, and one of my favorite antique table top trees.
The little white and gold table top tree belonged to my grandmother. She was the queen of holiday decor collections. She had tiny villages, and nutcrackers, and santa cluas, and more houses, but among my favorites were her table top Christmas trees. My sisters joke that I got my obsession for table top trees from our grandmother, but I don’t care. One of my most treasured is this white and gold one that belonged to her. Back in the 60’s when smoking was still cool, she would put this out in her living room, as the top tier is actually a lighter, and the bottom three rings are personal ash trays staked – HA!
I mentioned in my Holiday Mantel post that we got a new Christmas tree for our living room this year. I’ll be sharing more details about our new tree from Amazon (found HERE) tomorrow on the blog, along with some sources for the ornaments I used. They have all been collected over the years, but I can tell you I have been using these same ornaments for the past four years, and I still have not grown tired of this look ๐
Just past our Christmas tree, to the right, as you leave our living room, I have this sweet antique dresser that used to be in our kitchen at our previous house. It holds mostly stuff for our dogs, but I love any chance I can to create small vignettes in little nooks and corners throughout our house.
This piece is new this year from Lindsay Letters, found HERE, a famous quote from the classic Christmas movie It’s a Wonderful Life. This quote holds a special meaning in our house, as this movie is a family tradition my husband grew up watching. So you can imagine my sheer joy when Lindsay told me she was working on a piece of art for this years holiday collection.
I have the canvas in Warm Grey, with the Antique Gold frame.
Next up on today’s tour is Krista, from the Happy Housie – our tour host. She does such an amazing job putting these these seasonal home tours together, be sure to stop by her blog and see how she’s decorated her home for the holidays!
