Hello Friends!! Happy Thanksgiving!! I can’t believe it is already the week of Thanksgiving ?! The groceries have been bought, the table has been set, and now it’s time to begin all the prep work so that on the actual day I only have to do a few minimal things. This year we are frying our turkey, and my husband is so excited to do this, so now there is even one less thing on my plate for the big day. I will be honest, it feels a little “late” in the blogging world to be sharing a Thanksgiving Tablescape the week of Thanksgiving, but I still wanted to share some inspiration, even if it ends up being for next years table. So today I’m sharing my simple Thanksgiving Tablescape.
Come and see how I set the table this year ~
I was really inspired by this simple Thanksgiving Tablescape I did two years ago. There was something that just spoke to me about the single heirloom pumpkin, the minimal table accessories set to the backdrop of an oatmeal linen tablecloth. I was craving that kind of simplicity this year, one that feels less hurried, less rushed, less busy.
Maybe it’s from the excitement of my own anticipation for winter. I know that sounds crazy, believe me I know, but over the last couple of years I’ve really started to look at winter with a sort of awe for the season it is, and all the gifts that the winter season holds. And now I find myself craving the slow down that the winter season brings, just as much as I crave the buds that pop up in spring, or the long warm sunny days that bless us in summer.
For this tablescape, everything I used I had on hand. I didn’t want to fuss over trying to find anything new, I pulled from decor I’ve used in past years to create a simple centerpiece, and even came up with a new grouping of my plates for each place setting.
I love how the wood chargers with their clean design plays into the simple look I was after. The warm wood tones play off of the pops of brown in the faux magnolia branches. Did you recognize these magnolia branches from my Christmas garland I created last year?

The white china plates are from my inherited set, and then on top I stacked a brown transferware salad plate, with a simple pattern that has a heritage look. Over all each place setting feels like a blend of modern and vintage. No frills, or scalloped edges, just clean lines and simple design.
I finished off each place setting with a white linen napkin, that I tied with ribbon in lieu of napkin rings, and a simple pair of antique flatware. The creamy whites play off of the mini white pumpkins that I used in the centerpiece, and give off a soft, minimal feel to my color scheme.
For the centerpiece I started by placing my white turkey in the center of my table. In lieu of a floral arrangement or large pumpkins, this simple turkey makes all the statement I need for my minimal themed tablescape.
Once I had my turkey in place, I then began to tuck my faux magnolia branches around it, forming a “garland look”, coming out of the center of my table. Once the branches were in place, I tucked a few brass candlesticks in and around the branches, using a zig-zag pattern for a more scattered look.
I finished things off by placing a few white mini pumpkins I still had on hand from my fall decorating, on either end of the table to finish off this centerpiece.
“I pray our hearts would be filled with praise as we bow our heads and give thanks for those gathered around this table. May this time together remind us to be content and generous with what we are given. Help us to be a blessing to all those we encounter. I pray we gather hope as we gather around our tables, right here – among loved ones – so that we can go out from this table and share the gifts we have received with others this holiday season. ”
