Hello Friends!
Nothing like a little Christmas Decor to make a room feel more finished! I hadn’t planned on sharing this room with you yet, but I styled this little corner in the guest room we have upstairs, and it just kind of spilled over into me adding more Christmas Decor into this space. I shared the design plan for our guest room downstairs with you all, but did you know that we have a guest room upstairs too?! EEK! I had planned on sharing some of the progress this room has taken with you after the holidays, but I just loved the subtle Christmas decor I added to it so much, I wanted to share it with you all too! So enjoy the first glimpse into our guest room upstairs decorated for Christmas.
Come and take a look ~
Just at the top of our stairs, to the right, is another spare bedroom that we are using as Guest Room #2. Yes, you read that right, a second guest room. I assure you I know how crazy that sounds. But isn’t that just like God, I was praying for just a guest room, and he blessed me with two!
This room has already come in handy so much this past summer when my husbands entire family came to visit and stayed with us for a few days. It made it so easy to host everyone, and unlike the guest room on the first floor off of the living room with a king size bed, I used two twin beds for this room.
While I still have a few things I want to add into this space design wise, the basics are done. I painted the room Balboa Mist by Ben Moore, which was the same color I used in our kitchen. It’s a warm, putty gray, and I had so much left over, I decided to use it in here as well.
Similar duvet covers found here.
I will share a more detailed blog post about more of the design process and sources that went into this space, but for now I just wanted to share some of the subtle Christmas decor that I used, and a few sources for those of you who caught a glimpse of it in my stories on Instagram π
It all started with this amazing sign I got from Rooted + Grounded. It’s a solid wood sign that looks like a giant book page, from the story A Christmas Carol. I loved this excerpt from the novel, because it’s a good reminder to us all to have a childlike wonder at Christmas, because the founder was a child himself. Such a sweet reminder, and a great perspective to keep, when sometimes the holidays can feel like the most stressful time of the year. I want to head into the week of Christmas with all the joy and wonder my children hold.
I started by hanging the sign in between two of the windows in this room, and then before I knew it I had an entire little cozy Christmas corner. I brought a little faux tree that I had purchased last year from Overstock in, and few Christmas present boxes I had from Target. A few little nutcrackers here, and a strand of Christmas lights plugged in and scattered on the floor, was all I needed to get the ball running.
Instead of decorating yet another tree, I just draped a little felt garland around it, and tied on a few tiny little bows to the end of the branches.
I finished things off with a few more festive garlands, and swapped out the throw pillow on each bed for an added touch of the red and white. I shared on Instagram how I wanted to added a festive throw blanket to each bed for an added cozy touch, but I just didn’t see any this year that I was “in love” with, so I held off. I didn’t want to just buy something for the sake of buying it, I want the things I choose to bring into our home – guest room and all – to be pieces that I absolutely love.
Is the room finished – no. Are there more things that I could have done – yes. Do I envision doing more in here in the years to come – absolutely. But did it spark a little joy in my heart to add the Christmas decor in here, minimal as it may – You better believe it.
Don’t let comparison or any thing else rob you this holiday season of experiencing joy during this magical time of year. As my good friend the Nester says “It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful” and I can 100% stand in agreement with that! Even if it’s just a tiny tabletop tree, or a simple ribbon, adding little touches of Christmas Decor throughout your home makes an impact, even if you are the only one who sees it π So enjoy it friend, and indulge a little in the childlike wonder this season has to offer!

I am so glad I found your blog.I truly think it was God
leading me.I love your story.Havenβt read every blog yet,but working on it.I am so glad you have your new home. I really like the way you are furnishing it.
I was especially touched when you said ,about decorating guest room, that you couldnβt see exactly what you wanted so you bought nothing. It is so refreshing for someone to say I will not buy just because so and so has it.
I am sorry for rambling on.It is because I really think God has put you where you are to be a shining light.I love that you are not afraid to mention God in your blogs.
God has great plans for you .

Awe thank you Kathy!! I’m so happy to hear that, because honestly I was wondering if it was worth sharing because of it’s simplicity. But it reminded me as well that you don’t have to do a lot to spread a little joy, and embrace the season π
