Hello Friends!!
Thank you so much for your kind remarks in regards to my last post about Preparing our Hearts and our Homes for the holiday season. It’s so nice to hear that many of you are feeling the same way I am this holiday season. I mentioned in that post how this year I took out only the decorations I felt like using. It was actually during my process of decorating our dining room that lead me to that decision after feeling overwhelmed with decision fatigue over how I wanted to even go about decorating our dining room. There’s a few recent changes in our dining room as well, so I can’t wait for you to see how our dining room looks for Christmas this year.
Come and see ~
Just before Thanksgiving I decided to paint our dining room white. I loved the color I had in there, but came to realized with the gray tones in our furniture there wasn’t enough distinction between our furniture and the walls. I went with my go-to white paint – White Heron by Benjamin Moore, and with the new white walls decided it was finally time to hang up some curtains. I hung the same gray linen curtains we used to have in our previous living room for now since I already had them on hand and love how much warmth they added into the space. And I believe I have finally decided on a chandelier as well. I will be sharing all the details after the holidays, with sources, but for now I am loving the subtle refresh.
I made some DIY ornaments for this tree this year, that I will be sharing more about next week, so be on the look out for that~
On the hutch I focused on tucking in some faux cedar and juniper branches, along with a few bottle brush trees throughout. I filled a cloche with a mix of ornaments for a little added sparkle, and I’m just loving this simplified look this year.
We also have a new buffet in our dining room, which is a recent addition. A secondhand find that I hurried to refinish before the temperatures dropped outside and it was too cold to work on. (More on that later too!) I created a similar vignette on our new buffet (you might remember seeing it HERE) using a DIY canvas I made, with a Lindsay Letters canvas (found HERE) layered in front.
I draped some faux garland along the top of the buffet, and then nestled in a few of my favorite table top trees, and white ceramic houses from Target last year.
I kept things simple on our dining room table as well. I made the centerpiece with some faux paper whites I got years ago, and covered their stems with some faux cedar sprigs and a few ornaments at the base. I placed a few of my antique brass candlesticks, staggered on either side, and some glass Christmas tree candle votives for a little extra holiday touch.

Thank you so much Lynne! I feel like the white paint just gave the room the reset it needed, and then I could hang the curtains I already had on hand because now they weren’t too close to the wall color 🙂 So excited for a new chandelier that arrives next week!
