Hello Friends and happy Monday!! Christmas decorating is in full swing over here, and it’s funny each year, I feel like I liked the previous years Christmas decor better, and contemplate on what I will do / add this year. But then once I start finishing spaces around our house, I end up liking this years decor better. Isn’t it funny how that happens. I never really feel like I can do better than the previous years, and yet somehow like each years better than the one before. I don’t know how that is possible, and as much as I don’t plan on changing it up, each year my christmas decor evolves into something slightly different. Today I’m sharing some decorating I’ve done around our living room, along with 15 other friends. Come and take a look!
Regardless of what holiday it is, there is one thing I love to incorporate in my decor this time of year – texture! Lots of cozy texture. So I bring out all the chunky knit blankets, and fuzzy throws, anything the screams “warmth” to me.
I pretty much love to decorate with white all year round, so this year I incorporated it in frosty white candle votives, creamy pillows, and a white faux fur tree skirt draped over our coffee table.
I think last year really began my quest to simplify my Christmas decor. I wanted things to feel casual yet elegant, and not too fussy. That way the pieces I chose to decorate with really stood out. This year that quest continues, with a touch more to the elegant side.
Shiny baubles and fresh greens were what I really gravitated towards most. It feels a bit classic and timeless, yet not too busy, which I like. The holidays can be busy enough, so I want our home to feel festive without all the chaos that fills our calendars this time of year.
I mentioned in the beginning of my post about my love for texture, and these cozy throws from Jolie Marche add just the cozy factor I was craving! When she released this years holiday collection my jaw hit the floor, and I knew these were exactly what I was looking for to incorporate not only in my holiday decor, but all winter long too! More on these amazing pillow soon!
I tried to sprinkle equal amounts of shiny mercury glass, cozy winter whites, and fresh greens throughout our living room. Each surface giving some holiday cheer, with a fest vignette for your eyes to rest on.
I shared in my Instagram post yesterday that this years Christmas decor is a mix of previous years HomeGoods finds, fresh greens, and some childhood favorites. Like this sweet little white deer – shown below.
I actually inherited the pair of them this past summer as my mom downsized. I remember her putting them out every year, and I love not only the nostalgia memory they carry, but also the slightly elegant touch they have in their shiny white finish.
You can find most of my living room decor staples – HERE, in my Living Room Sources Post. I will be sharing more sources on holiday decor as I continue to share this years Christmas home tours.
