Hello Friends!
Today is finally the day! I have been hinting that I was working on finishing our fall decor for the last few weeks, and I’ll be honest, there were times I wasn’t really sure if it was going to be done or not, lol! I was so excited to decorate our new home for fall, because this is our first fall in this home. But I think a lot of that excitement was coming from a place of wanting to nest. The air is cooler, the sunlight streaming a little more amber and gold, and I wanted to do was make a giant pot of soup, and bring out all my chunky knit throw blankets, anyone else? Speaking of which, have you tried this soup HERE? It’s delicious, I’m making it tonight, but that’s besides the point. I really just wanted our home to feel warm and cozy. I will be honest, I found it a little difficult to photograph this fall home tour, because this was the first time I was officially photographing this house, I’m still getting to know her. And what lighting works right, and what angels make her shine. I almost scratched this whole post because I wasn’t totally fond of the photos I took, but I reminded myself that done is better than perfect. And since the last time I showed you this house was when we moved in, I wanted to share some of the progress we’ve made. Consider this home tour like a “first date” if you will, of me getting to know our new home through my camera lens.
Come on in, as we welcome Fall ~
Let’s start in the dining room, since we have officially moved things around. Once I finished giving the hutch I found on FB Marketplace (tutorial coming SOON!), and we moved it in, we were able to shift the dining room over to how I originally envisioned the layout being.
The table now runs parallel with the windows, instead of in front of the fireplace, with the hutch on the wall at the end of the table. We do plan on adding some smaller occasional chairs in front of the fireplace after we give it a makeover as well!
I put a scarf down the center of our table, and placed some heirloom pumpkins in muted orange tones, and smaller white pumpkins in the center. Since I’m still getting a feel for this space, and sorting through my decor, I just kept things simple for this year. I love how just adding a few pumpkins is sometimes all you need to decorate with for fall.
With our old buffet now on the wall to the left of the windows, I created a simple vignette with this antique mirror I found at Purple Rose Home a few years ago, and some wild weeds that were growing in our field, thrown in a vase.
To the left of this hutch is the sliding doors that lead out to our screened in porch. Someday I want to replace these with beautiful french doors that open out onto the porch, but for now I’m just thankful for all the natural light they let in, and that I can sit at our dining room table, and look out into our backyard and see all the leaves changing colors for fall.
Next up, Our Living Room ~
Our living room got a giant hug this past weekend, as we finally hung curtains up. If you’ve been following along, then you know it’s been quite the process getting our living room set up. First, I sanded and refinished all the floors. Then I shared on IG stories how I found the old grids that fit in our living room windows and spray painted them to match the screens. I had removed the old rolling window shades, and had a clean slate to work with. Since there is no one behind us and no need for privacy, it was tempting not to hang curtains. But I knew curtains would make a huge impact in this space, and boy did they ever.
Our custom new drapes are from Wovn Home, and they couldn’t be more perfect! I chose their oatmeal linen fabric, for these fully lined drapes, with a Euro pleat at the top. I wanted this room to feel like it had some old world charm in it. English country side is the vibe I’m going for, and these drapes add just the touch of elegance I was hoping for, but they have all the cozy factor in the natural linen fabric. I’ll share more details on the drapes tomorrow, but for now, I had to give you a quick low down, because once they were up, I just stood in our living room beaming at them with sheer joy because they were just so much better than anything I could have imagined 🙂
Once there is a glimpse of leaves starting to turn colors, I’m itching to swap out my throw pillow covers to welcome the new season. I had gotten a few new covers from Linen and Cloth just before we moved, but with all the commotion of moving, they got packed away, until I recently unpacked some more of my decor, and they were just the shades of color I was craving.
I pulled out a few of my other favorites, layered in a chunky throw knit blanket from Target last year, and all of a sudden our living room felt like fall 🙂
The latest addition to our living room is this leather recliner chair I found on FB Marketplace for $150! I honestly couldn’t believe the price, and that there were no rips or tears or fading. One of things my husband dreamed of having for our new living room was a leather recliner. We went back and forth on a few, but with furniture shipping delays, and not being able to agree on a style we put it on the back burner, until I stumbled across this guy.
It looks a little more cognac in person, and has the feel of a well worn-in baseball glove. It creates a cozy little corner in our living room to sit in, and also provides some extra seating in the living room when we have people over. And it’s easy to slide over for football games on Sunday 🙂

Looks beautiful, modern and classic, homey and comfortable. That is a recliner I could deal with, love that it has legs and isn’t directly on the floor.

Everything has your charming touch. I’m sure all your friends feel right at home the moment the step through the door. Would you please tell me where you found your rug? The one under the blue on in your living room. It appears to be jute. I’m needing one that’s 8×10.

Love your Fall 21 tour and your house!! I am wanting to slip cover two chairs. Where did you get your slipcover for your chair?
Thanks, Liz
Bre says
Hi Liz! Thank you so much. Our gray chairs in the living room actually come with the slipcovers already. But if you are in need of a slipcover I would highly recommend Comfort Works. I’ve had 2 slipcovers made for our sofa from them, and I was so impressed not only with how well they fit, but the price as well. I did a review in this blog post if you want to read more – https://roomsforrentblog.com/2018/03/new-slip-covers-sofa-comfort-works/
