Beachy Cottage Guest House Tour

04/30/2014 By Bre

You guys are in for such a treat today!! My girl Jen from Migonis Home is sharing her lovely home and style with us today. She totally took the words right out of my mouth in her first sentence, because that is exactly how I would describe her to you! I’m so thrilled to have her here today, and this is just a taste of her lovely home. You have got to stop by her blog and see the rest of their beautiful house.
Please welcome Jen!

I would say Bre is one of my best blogging friends… which sounds so bizarre because we’ve never met in real life even though we live an hour from each other. We both have a similar love for white and casual comfortable style. While Bre decorates with stunning farmhouse style I’d describe our style as beachy chic. We live in the quaint town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA and have been slowly fixing up our house.

Come in… let me show you around.
We are in the process of repainting our house to a very beachy nautical color scheme. I just painted the house number on the door… I was inspired by the cover of Blueprint magazine from about six years ago.

When you come in our back door the beachy look welcomes you right away with this Manchester directional sign that I made out of an old barn board. It fits the wall perfectly and looks like a giant piece of driftwood.
Also in the back hall is a small cabinet we got from my parents when they renovated their kitchen. I painted it Tranquil Bay by Valspar… Along with half the rest of the world I love blues, aquas and grays and have worked them in to most of the rooms in our house. I change out the framed photos with the seasons and now have a series of watercolors I made out of photos (see here for that post).

Right off of the entryway is our kitchen which we did  in a very classic design with shaker cabinets and stainless appliances. Even though the kitchen is fairly traditional there is a beachy feel to it because of all the white and how open it is.
We recently redid our island to make it more substantial looking. This adds a touch of chic-ness to the space. The seagrass bar stools make the classic island take itself a little less seriously like most places around the ocean should. ๐Ÿ™‚
AJ and I went hunting for driftwood one morning on a breakfast date in Newburyport and came home with this great piece that we made into our drop zone in a little corner of the living room.

Now that I’ve taken you on a tour of our beachy chic house let’s go out to the back patio and rest. We have a pea stone patio and driveway… it was an easy update where we ripped out some dirt that really didn’t look good and covered it with these inexpensive stones. We really need some new stones under the table… don’t look there. ๐Ÿ™‚
We have opted for a very simple landscaping plan of blue hydrangeas and boxwoods… with some stunning irises thrown in on our front walkway. I can’t take any credit for the landscaping other than mowing the yard… that’s AJ’s territory.

You can see our complete house tour here, including the living room (which is totally a work in progress… I don’t love it yet!) and all the bedrooms and bathrooms. Please come on over to Migonis Home and introduce yourself… I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to hear from blog readers. ๐Ÿ™‚ Bre, thank you for letting me join you on your lovely blog today!

Didn’t her chunky barn wood sign grab your attention right away! Instant swoon. And her kitchen, I love her choices for decor, and she carries it beautifully throughout the rest of her house. If you love a good before & after, you have got to visit her blog to see all of the work they have done to that house since they moved in. It’s just amazing. Thank You so much Jen for sharing with us today, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
