Art of Home |Modern Simple Living

When you think of the word “home” what comes to mind. Some words that I think of are inviting, warm, comforting, peaceful, safe, refreshing. Maybe some of my words were ones that you thought of too?! It’s no surprise that we long for a space that is comforting and refreshes you as you spend time in it. When you think of your home, whether it’s a 3 bedroom house, or a studio apartment, does it reflect those words that you think of when you close your eyes and dwell on the word “home”? To me home isn’t about the size or status. We use words like “own” or “rent”, “apartment”, “rent a room” or “house”, “single”, “married” to describe our status, but it doesn’t matter what your status is, any of those places described can be turned into a “home”. I’ve lived in all of those situations I described as a status. From renting an apartment, staying in just one room all by myself as a guest in someones home. Having an apartment with roommates when I was single to renting a 3 bedroom apartment that was “home” for 5 years as a newlywed, to owning. All of those places had something in common though – they were “home”. They were home because I made them home.

I didn’t allow my status to change my mindset of wanting a space that reflected all of those words I used to describe home in the beginning. In my homemaking, I’ve strived to create an environment that is not only refreshing to me, but those who come over as well. I would devour articles in all the Home & Garden magazines. Searching for tips and ideas on how to make my space more inviting and comfortable. Every visit to a bookstore was a chance to soak up more information on creating a desirable home. I would ask questions and bounce ideas off of women who were established in their nesting, looking to glean anything from knowledgable sources. I think that’s why I”m so excited about the Art of Home.artofhomephotocollagePROMO It’s a four week online course where each week we will discuss decorating, cooking, gardening, entertaining, housekeeping and more! I love Jeanne’s words when she described the class ” This four week course is your favorite home and cooking magazines come to life!”. It reminds me of the days I spent pouring over those magazines, reading articles to create a well made home. Each week will be discussing a different topic. I shared these in a previous post when I first started talking about the class, but just in case you missed it, here is a recap:
Week 1 : The Art of Home | Farm to Table – This week is all about gardening, cooking and preserving food.artofhomefarmtotable2

Week Two : The Art of Home | Gathering – This week is all about opening your home and creating a space where people feel loved and special.

As a previous student of one of Jeanne’s famous online courses, I know you will be touched by this course. I think that’s why I’m so excited about it. Because I know how big it impacted me, and really encouraged and motivated me to move forward and step out into creating things in my own home. I was truly inspired, and I believe you will be too!

Check out this little clip that Jeanne put together to talk about this course!

Early registration is still going on. Right now you can register for this 4 week course for just $42.99, and have access to watch the videos at your own pace.
